i cant do without using mouse, i only use the touchpad when i'm lapping my laptop

I prefer using a mouse with my laptop.

I don't use my laptop at home though, as I have a home desk top set-up, I tend to use my laptop with mouse if I have work to do on it away from home. So, I don't take my laptop everywhere I go, just for the fun of it.

For Serious Graphics Work 2d or 3d, u just cant work without a mouse.

Yeah! I think the mouse makes a lot of sense co's whenever you're online for some couple of hours, your fingers seems to be tired and feeling wet which makes the touchpad sucks, so you see why you sometimes need your mouse

How this kind topic go make front page Wen all of us know say, comparing the mouse to the laptop touchpad is like comparing death and sleep of course the laptop touch pad useless pass mouse

The laptop touchpad is complete frustration anyday, anytime. Even if you increase the speed of the touchpad.

Whats worse is those touchpads that u have to make repeated swipes to get from one diagonal end of the screen to another.

for me, mouse dont really come in handy at all times. its used when there r urgent works to do esp graphic and autocad design

I use the touch pad 99%. I like doing all my work on ONE BOARD - it's faster. Sometimes, hands ache but I can't also do without the "scroll down/up" segment on the touch pad.

Yes i use mouse with my laptop. My finger aches without it.

hmmm, just realised i use both.
my sub conscious mind chooses which to use depending on the task.
Some tasks i can remember

scroll : touchpad
scroll with precision: mouse
clicks in the middle of typing : touchpad
drag n drop/resize : mouse
graphics : mouse
opening a link in a new tab : scroll wheel click on mouse
all other things: the keyboard (ctrl/alt/shift + something)

So the touchpad has its weaknesses as well as its strengths.
Ever tried to minimize pornzz with the touchpad, when the boss bolts into your cubicle? Hmmm good me, i can only imagine.

Heh win98 days just hit alt+ctrl+del twice and u're clean! The boss will meet a rebooting system

The mouse pad is what I've always used and will continue to use. Serious work or not, I still use it. I use excel to an extent and some other properteiry software, and I like my pad no problems ever. I've used it so much that the left click bar is down a bit but I feel comfortable with it regardless.

Allright. The unity of all what is said is that both the mouse and touchpad are good. Nothing can be totally good or totally bad. When mobile use touchpad. It is designed for pleasure. When immobile and doing serious work, use your mouse. It is made for tedious jobs. The whites are not fools. The had reasons for creating both. Lets not be the fools arguing like we do not know the capacity of both devices.

Using the mouse, especially pretty often, can cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It's better to use a mouse pad specially designed for the protection of the hands. Not a flat mouse pad but where the hands can rest and fit snugly. I think it's called ergonomics.

those who use the mouse pad apparently don't have anything serious to do with their pc, most of the animations i do require speed and precision and the mouse pad doesn't gimme that.
