IMPACT OF MENTOR AND ROLE MODEL
It is my pleasure to arrive at this verdict that many of us remain unsuccessful perhaps because of our wrong mentor or because of the obsession with our role model or mentor.
Apparently, we are all desirous to achieve a goal, consequently we seek advises from our mentors or we imitate the life style of our role model. We often do this, because we aspire to be like them. However, this mentality is quite good and it triggers us for further development. But the problem is that if we intended to strictly adhere to their advise alone rather to go in extra miles. Consequently, we may never go beyond them because our enlightenment, socialization and information will be in accordance with theirs. As a result of this, there will be a limit to what we are capable of achieving in life. However, to go exceedingly beyond our mentor and role models, then it calls for our extra efforts in everything that we engage ourselves to. To paraphrase it, it is just like a student that aspires to be like his teacher in everything; however, he cultivated everything about his teacher. He walks the way his teacher walk, he reads the way his teacher read. In a nutshell, he does everything just as the way his teacher has been doing it. However, it is obvious that such student will achieve his aims but he may not go beyond his teacher because he actually run and did everything in line with his teacher rather in extra miles. In fact, I may say that a life without either mentor or role model is an incomplete life. But as both variables have dominant roles to contribute to our goals, they may also influence us negatively because of our high expectation on them, we seems to perceive them as a perfect being, we often feel satisfy to imitate their flaw and carried away by their eminent personality as a result we don’t reconsider their shortcoming instead, we depict them as a fallible being.
