With summer in full swing, your car might not be able to handle all of the heat. As gas prices tumble across the country, you also might be more inclined to road trip this summer. You should make sure your car is in the best operating condition to handle all of the sun and fun of summer. Here’s how to get your car ready for swimming, road trips, days at the beach, and all that other summer fun just around the corner.
Give Your Tires A Check Up

Tires wear down more easily in hot months. If you live in an area that regularly exceeds 80 degree temperatures, you should get your tires checked at the start of summer, middle of summer and end of summer. Check the tire pressure regularly to make sure they are inflated where they should be. Make sure your spare tire is in working order and in the car for any summer emergencies.

Get Your Air Conditioning Checked

Sometimes air conditioners in cars can get overworked, and you might not know it. You’ll usually know your air conditioner is out when it quits blowing cold air. If you notice a leak under the car, these two combined could mean you have a refrigerant leak. If it’s making noises, you may need a fan or belt replaced. You should schedule a service appointment to check things out.

For Older Cars

Make sure your older car is topped up on fluids. You might want to check into getting your air conditioner charged to make it through the summer. Another great way to beat the heat is with a sun visor. Sun visors block those hot rays, so your car isn’t as hot when you get in. Not only are they great for older cars that don’t blow as cold air as it once did, but they come in handy for leather interior too!
