So I am tired of my glasses and contacts! I am seriously considering lasik eye correction. I only have mild myopia (-1.25) from extensive computer use and studying. I would love to hear feedback for anyone that has undergone the surgery, was it worth it? any side effects I should know about?

It is totally cheap in Canada right now, less then a $1000 for both eyes, my glasses and contacts cost about as much every 2 years. and my job insurance is willing to cover half the cost

I really don't have any excuse except that I am scared of shooting laser down my eye.

I really would love to hear from previous laser candidates.

A girl i work with had it done. She had no problems with it.

want to have it, but freaked out about the cutting of the eyeball itself (only a thin flap is opened for the procedure then closed after, self healing). there are plenty of videos available of the actual procedure (you are completely awake for). watch the vids and see if you could see yourself doing it.

Hi, I also want to do Lasik suggery. I am shortsighted due to constant reading and use of computer. Guess am tired of contacts and glasses, especially here in naija whwere there is always dust and heat disturbing the lens.

But the issue is that there are various stories about Lasik suggery. Some says after five to seven years, the eyes deteriorates again.

But all the same, it depends on the doctors performing the suggery.

There is one man that used to send mails to my email on how to restore back ones sight through constant exercise and others at the cost of $79 or so.

i had lasik surgery in the uk in 06 and my eyes have been super cool since them 20/20 vision
i so do not miss wearing my glasses!

go for it ill say, its just a 20 min painless procedure, and mine cost a fortune then at 2,400 pounds for both eyes!!!

I'm considering doing this in the future. I love my glasses, but also tired of depending on them. I would love to have 20/20 vision. And I didn't know they were that cheap. My glasses cost me almost that much too.

My cousin did his in 2004 and hasn't complained yet.

AAAHHHHHH! give me a break .u shud be grateful to have dat eyesight.I use a (-12)MINUS TWELVE
glasses.I am not only tired but frustrated of the situation.
REALLY I wud like to know if the above posters have any info on who has done it with my kind of myopia.

i'm also considering LASIK; i'm so dependent on my glasses and would really love to be rid of them. i know it's painless and all but i'm scared because i'd have to be awake during the procedure, and i'm very jumpy.

i read that -15 or worse usually requires a lens replacement surgery, but not even everyone with better prescriptions are suitable candidates for LASIK. other issues such as the thickness of the cornea are very important, so you have to get a consultation to know for sure.

about your question from the other thread, i don't know which is better, USA or UK. but i should say that if you find a hospital that does this procedure in Nigeria you should talk to patients, and ask about their success rates and guarantee. sometimes there are over-corrections or under-corrections and other minor complications. in the US (and i think UK too) they would correct these problems free of charge. some in america even offer free lifetime touchups. plus, you can sue them if something goes wrong. they bear so much responsibility for the outcome once they accept you for the procedure. so if you decide to do it in nigeria you should be sure that you're getting very good guarantee and that they are willing to take responsibility for any complications that might arise.
