DEVELOPING GODLY CHARACTER
Read 2 Peter 1:1-4
MEMORISE
By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:4)

The dictionary defines character as "moral excellence and firmness." The highest standard of character is set forth in the Scripture and exemplified in Jesus Christ. All the true disciples of Christ are exhorted to attain moral excellence through a life of trusting God and resisting the evil influences that surround us and arise from within us. You may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. We share God's nature in order to conform to God and His holiness (Eph. 4:22-24).
Paul knew that godly character comes only through resisting evil influences and impulses, and focusing on the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, hence his admonition to Timothy: “But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness” (1 Tim. 4:7).
A wise man said 'the greatest battle does not take place on the land, or on the sea, or in the air; it takes place in the mind.' To develop a godly character we must first furnish our minds with God's Word (Psa. 119:9; John 5:39). We must find and search out what the Word of God actually says and how we ought to act it out. The Word of God must be acted on consistently, and not to be used as a formula. Consistency is key to developing godly habits. Remember champions are not born, they are made, daily. Your routine defines you.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Holy Spirit, let Your power help me to develop the character that pleases You eternally.
2. Lord, purge me of all ungodly deposits of sin and carnality, so that my vessel would be holy and acceptable unto You.
3. Lord, let holiness moderate all our programmes and projects in our different churches and denominations all over the world.
