The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has set up an ad-hoc committee to look into the issue of extortion of pilgrims by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria(NAHCON).

The Committee chaired by Senator Monsurat Sunmonu was set up after the senate, today considered a report of the committee on Foreign Affairs on the extortion of pilgrims by the commission.

The Senate President emphasized that the pilgrims have been made to spend more than they needed to, hence the essence of the move.

"The time has come to end this money-making ventures. These Commissions unduly benefit from the pilgrims going to perform hajj in Mecca and pilgrims goin to Jerusalem" He said.
