The 11 Qualities You Should Look Out For in an Estate Agent:


Intro.:

The Estate Agent is a professional service delivery personnel & very important personality in every society or economy. He contributes greatly to the GDP of his country, and is responsible for providing housing solutions/services to the general populace.
Therefore below are eleven qualities that are expected of a good Estate Agent.


*11. Communication:

Good communication skills are essential for an Estate Agent. This doesn’t just mean in relation to potential buyers either. The Estate Agent should be keeping in touch with his client too and letting him know about every step of the process. The Client in turn must keep the communication line open with his Agent. No need for client playing God to the Agent, because if transaction goes wrong, both parties will suffer it. The Agent must also open up professional communication line with his colleagues, as you cannot do Estate Agency in isolation, never!


10. Personality:

Qaulity personality is key to your elevation in this career. The Estate Agent must wear a humble & cheerfull personality. He should not be lousy & noisy but calm & focused. No client wants to return back to an irresponsible & messy personality Agent. At its heart the property business is sales-oriented so it is important that the Estate Agent has the gift of salesmanship personality. This doesn’t mean that they should be untruthful with what they say, but rather that they should be personable and throw of the vibe that this is somebody you would like to talk to.


9. Local Knowledge:

The Estate Agent should know everything that’s important about the location surrounding the properties under their control. They need to know where schools are, power supply situation, what the crime rate is like and what the area is like to ensure they price correctly and sell appropriately.


*8. Tech-Savvy:

The online market has become one of the top tools in the Estate Agent’s arsenal and it is important that he knows how to use the web to your advantage. Any Estate Agent that avoids the internet should be avoided. Any Estate Agent in 2017 without a WhatsApp enabled phone is wrong!


*7: Organised:

With a market as fast moving as the property market a good Estate Agent needs to be well-organised. They will usually be handling multiple properties and clients at a time, so failing to organise correctly can lead to issues being missed. He must be organised in speech, dressing & disposition.


*6. Work Ethics:

What is your attitude to clients? Do you see them as potential money to make?How do you treat them? Nothing comes without a little hard work and the same is true of the property market. It’s not enough just to let people know that a property is for sale, nor is it enough to simply provide a database of properties for purchase or rent. Active knowledge of what the client needs should be put to use. The Estate Agent must observe details, he is to attend to what the client needs & not what he wants himself.


*5. Good Listener:

There is wisdom in listening before talking.
Following on from that point, it is important that the Estate Agent is able to listen to and provide feedback on client's enquires. Knowing what the client wants is extremely important, otherwise how will they know what to look for?


*4. Connected:

The Estate Agent should know how to get what his client need whenever he needs it. This means paperwork, Pictorials, deeds, Documentations, licenses, permits and anything else that can help you along the way. Having the appropriate connections ensures all of the red tape is handled swiftly.


*3. Testimonials;

As the saying goes: “The proof is in the pudding.” A good estate agent must be able to show where they have succeeded in dealing with properties in the past and, ideally, will be happy to provide testimonials and examples of their work.


*2: Integrity/Honesty:

Integrity is not a gift, it is a concious attitude to be honest & trusthworthy.
Honesty is all-important in the property market, as without it you open yourself up to failure should the deception be uncovered. Be honest with your client & colleagues and ensure that they are honest in return. Dont eat today and forget there will be neeed to eat tomorrow!


*1: A Sense of Association:

The Estate Agent must have a sense of Associating professionally with his noble colleagues in the career. Nobody is an ireland, neither is the Estate Agent. Associations have Aims/Objectives for establishing them; and these aims have a way of moulding the character & behavioural pattern of members. Secondly, the Estate Agent who identifies or is registerd with an Association becomes concious of his actions & inactions to his colleagues, clients & the public.
