HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones debuted last Sunday to a record-breaking 16.1 million viewers in its

first episode “Dragonstone”. Arguably, judging by the viewership, online interest and media coverage,

Game of Thrones is the biggest thing on television right now. Currently in its penultimate season, ratings

are waxing strong and audiences eager to see who’ll finally sit on the iron throne. Winter has never been

this strong than now.

But I did use the word penultimate season (second before the last), meaning that the series will

finally end after one more season and t.v aficionados will need something to turn their attention to.

But before I continue, I’d like to say, Game of Thrones is a unique series blending drama, politics,

magic, fantasy into a whole full package. It is unique. There is nothing like it right now in terms of

its genre-blending property.

Notwithstanding, I’m going to recommend other series on t.v right now that are similar to Game of Thrones in terms

of the time period. That is, if you’re into swords, sandals, royalty and all that medieval stuff.

Then, you should start checking out these series once GOT is done. Who knows what might pick up your

interest.

1. Reign:

This follows the life of queen mary of the scots in the french court

2.Downtown Abbey:

This series chronicles the life of the Crawley family and their servants in a Georgian Country House

4. Vikings

The life of mythical vikings legend Ragnar lothbrok is brought to life here

A pirate adventure drama following the life of dreaded Captain Flint and his pirates

The series centers on a group of pirates operating out of Nassau in the Bahamas.
We meet characters from history – Captain Charles Vane, Governor Woodes Rogers,
Jack Rackham and Anne Bonny – plus characters from fiction – Captain Flint and, of course, Long John Silver.
