Manchester City are still hopeful of signing Alexis Sanchez, but may be forced to switch their top attacking target if Arsenal maintain their position that he is not for sale.




Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has reiterated his stance that the Chilean striker will
remain at the club amid speculation that Paris Saint-Germain want to sign him. Sanchez has only one year remaining on his Arsenal contract but Wenger insists he will not be sold despite the danger that he could leave for free at the end of next season.

The 28-year-old says he wants to play in the Champions League but Arsenal did not qualify for the competition after only finishing fifth in the Premier League season.

Sources have told ESPN FC that he would prefer a move to the Etihad Stadium and the opportunity to work with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.
