@AAOL...I did not get your reply again on your advise??

Okay sorry about that.

Background check is most likely done by an external body called CSIS and not by your visa officer. Visa officer await recommendation or clearance from CSIS before updating our status. Its good to know that a decision has already been made on our file at the first review stage while the VO awaits background check report before updating our final status.

The reason why most applications get stucked apt the BG check stage may be because security report from csis is not yet out. Sometimes your travel history can be a reason for delay because they will have much information to verify with the countries you have visited.

You may need to wait till the end of processing time before you can start sending mails.

I didn't include the Employment letter or Letter of Introduction from my past employer which would have buttressed what i wrote on my study permit application form that I once worked there.

So the VO tagged it a misrepresentation, and asked me to address it,which I did by attaching Letter of Introduction my past employer gave me last year when I applied for my 1st study permit.

Senatorkolade:
What do they mean by misrepresenration about your past employer? Did you lie to them about your previous job?
Please shed more light.

I submitted my study permit application on 18th April ,and on 10th May CIC asked me to address a misrepresentation by submitting proof of my past employment, which i sent to them on 11th May.And like someone said,am yet to hear "pim" from CIC since then, lol.

But one thing is certain, it shall all end in praise... Try getting busy so as to think less about the "wait"

I wish all the TRV hopefuls the best.

Oh for that boss, you have to be on ground, sign your contract and submit a void cheque to the person in charge of funding in your faculty.

Your payment would start usually in september, paid to your bank account.

Lagos office processes visitors visa or ABUJA (any of them), depending on where you applied from. Ghana is just for study permit not visitors visa.

Is a TRV guaranteed even with the best packaged application? NO!!!

EE is not guaranteed either even with the best packaged application. We have to agree to disagree. If I were in this woman's position, my priority will be getting my TRV since its only a delay based on insufficient funds, a thing easily that can be tackled, while still pursuing the EE route.

I think you have pretty good chances.
Note that you are not likely going to get any form of funding/scholarship. Also note that some schools don't favour international students when it comes to M. Eng.
Do your research very well. Aim and shoot.

Why is (s)he not likely to get any form of funding? UOttawa doesn't fund international students or they don't fund Master's programs?

So Sir, what you are saying in essence is if your application takes for ever for background check to be passed, it means your criminal records oti poju? And those with less than 4weeks processing time, dey no commit crime at all before.

Good morning All,

I am planning to apply for an interdisciplinary programme (Joint Master in Peace and Conflict Studies) in Manitoba. My 1st degree was on Library and Information Studies while my 2nd degree was on Managerial Psychology. My experience over the years has been on sales and marketing, I am the CEO of my company. I want to change my career path, with Joint Master in Peace and Conflict Studies. I strongly feel I would be able to affect lives/society more positively. Would there be any concerns from VO with my change of career path by taking up this course? I need your advice?

I await your prompt advice.

Thanks.

If you can strongly articulate the reason for your change in career to the VO, you can win.

[quote author=maziude post=59237683]Hello bosses,

Sorry for the silence. I have been busy with settling down and meeting deadlines.

So, a quick update.

Got my Social Insurance Number (SIN) on friday after many persuasion from my supervisor. It is a 5 minutes process atleast in my case. So even if you dont ger to do it at your POE, you can always do it at any Service Canada office closest to you (they are everywhere).

I dont know if I mentioned this earlier, please hold enough cash when coming. This is your first time in a new location and settling down might be abit on the high side until you get stable.

For those renting apartments, usually landlords require the first and last month rent before they lease. So if your rent is 450/month, you will be required to pay 900 instantly, then subsequent rent will be monthly. Now, you see where having cash at hand is necessary. You might use your ATM, but be sure that ATM is working to avoid stories. Better still, have cash at hand for immediate needs and some in your account.

Spending tips... use discount offers if they are being offered, spend when necessary, look for items on sale (even the people wey get the land sef dey look out for discount and sales...so no go dey form).

Lastly, if you sabi bone well, you go need to adjust your face oh to accommodate smiling, because dem sabi smile well for here even for the offices.

Safe journey to those landing this week and the coming weeks.

For the TRV hopefuls, goodnews is around the corner.

@dere, @yomalicious and those delayed, I salute your never giving up spirit. God go do am.

Regards everybody,

Mazi. Thanks for the tip boss, we will join u soon God's willing.

Thank you for your prompt advice.

If I am to use my undergraduate study, I graduated in 2003, would there not be a serious concern with the gap between my graduation year and now or I should just stick to related master program on Sales and Marketing?

Keep in mind that many have successfully defended a career change and obtained their TRV. If you really feel passionate about your new field, I will highly encourage you to go for it. Your passion will show through, even with the way you write your SOP to the VO. If its something you are doing only out of convenience, by all means realign your course to something convenient that shows a progression to what you have studied in the past.

Hello house,
I Studied Industrial Technical Education(Specialisation in Electrical/Electronics )from University of Nigeria Nsukka...
My plan is to apply for M.ENG in Engineering management at University of Ottawa, Canada Winter admission January 2019...
Pls guru in the houses :
1.What are mine chances based on what I studied in Nigeria with 2.1 (3.70 CGPA)
2. Can an ordinary Lecturer write a letter of recommendation compare that it must be from a Professor listed on the college website...

Yes an ordinary lecturer can write letter of recommendation. In fact, it doesn't necessarily have to be a lecturer. Employers can write your letter of recommendations if you have been working for a number of years and left school for a while.

I mean I don't want it reviewed anymore, for them to stop.

Please i need your advice, i am applying for Canadian tourist visa online and a history student in Nigeria university, i am applying to visit historical sites in Canada so that i will use it as part of my final projects, i have 2.5m to support my trip and i have letter from my bank as proof of my account. i have it for the past 8 months and the accounts is very active, i have provide proof of the sites i will visit and the tickets they issued to me, my i have book hotel for my stay and its only 2 weeks and i have book flights of going and returning. My question is... Can i get the 2 weeks tourist visa since am a student and explain to support myself and is the money too much for the 2weeks tourist visa? Since i get letter from my bank do i still need to provide proof of the fund?

This would be an uphill task getting a visa, but nothing is impossible. For a Nigerian student surveying Canadian site for two weeks as part of a history project, would hold a ring of incredulity to a VO. So you have to do an extremely good job convincing them why this trip is necessary. Your SOP will seriously come into play and substantial ties outside of Canada that will induce your return back, will carry the day. Good luck.

How did they know you misrepresented your employment? Did you give employment that is invalid or simply because you did not substantiate an employment you stated it with evidence, therefore they accused you of misrepresentation? Which one is it? I am beginning to have serious concern folks with CIC sometimes flippant and substandard review of application, sometimes going as far as wrongly accusing people of checking "no" to previous visa denials, when in fact it was a "yes" checked. Or could computer glitches be responsible for changing people's answer from a yes to no? How do you justify someone's application who was submitted in April still waiting, when one submitted in June has already been approved? I thought it was a first come, first served basis? These are seeming arbitrary standard to me, thus the need to pray to God that your application goes forward well and does not meet eye with the shadows that lurks in the corner.

They should not have tagged it misrepresentation. They should have simply told you to submit evidence of your work. In line with their protocol, as they usually request documents when need be. I think this VO fits the category of a newbie or one who woke on the wrong side of bed. Never seen this kind of misrepresentation either.
