Antonio Conte says Chelsea are not yet ready to compete for the Champions League until they can sign new players
The Italian said the Stamford Bridge outfit need a sustainable structure to be able to compete in Europe like Bayern Munich.

The Blues boss said:“I know we have a lot of road ahead before we can compete to try to win the Champions League.
“We are trying to rebuild a situation and it’s not easy.
“You need a bit of time to create a structure and to build every season — and then to go to fight.
“It is always important to know the reality and then to try and work and try to improve.”
The Blues have spent £129million already this summer on new players but Conte still feels there is a gulf in European class between his side and Bayern Munich.

He said:“Bayern Munich are ready to fight to win the Champions League because every season they stay there, and they try to improve the team.
“For them it is easier now because they have a good structure.
“You arrive at the end of the season and sign one or two players to improve your team but you have 17 or 18 players for a good basis.

“Then you can pay £80m for one player or £90m for two players and your transfer market is finished.
“When you must rebuild you need to buy players but also create the solid foundation, and then find one or two strong players to improve your quality.”

The Blues have already signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco and Anto Rudiger from AS Roma.
