Good day great people of this reputation forum. My name is Stanford ,39yrs of age from Rivers state ,married with kids.

Hopefully, I will be done with my PhD degree program in geoscience by November 2017. I have the intention of settling outside the country as a lecturer or geoscientist (i have got about 10yrs industrial experience including offshore experience) and relocating my family as soon as possible but lack the financial muscle to achieve it though my wife has been working for couple of years, her financial strength is just good enough for the family up keep. The storm in the oil and gas sector in 2015 affected my job so I started the PhD degree program ....I need advice on

1 The best way to leave the country (student visa or...)for my dream after my degree program.

2 The best county to relocate to,where getting my family over will be quicker

3 What do we think of a post doctorial research job or another PhD degree program while lecturing?

4 How about scholarship for international students?

Thanks in advance.....

My candid advice, start looking for post doct position abroad. With your PhD and work experience you have an extra edge. Just search for schools and research institute that are working on your specialisation. yiu can check out Germany, Estonia, Hong Kong and Canada.
All the best bro

This is the best and most reasonable advise here , brother you are blessed, you should be thinking USA , Australia, New Zealand or the Middle East , take you think and google for post doc programs in those countries, don't go to Europe it's a waste of time, too cold and no money there.

First of all, I'm surprised you will be bagging your PhD in just two years! Which university is that? Many universities abroad hardly confer PhD within two years not to talk of Nigerian universities. Coming to your question, looking for a lecturing job abroad with a Nigerian PhD will not sell, so you better shelve that plan. My advice for you is to seek for postdoctoral research in any university abroad. Canada or Australia would have been ideal, but you may not get it as a result of finance, but you can still try your luck. Another option is for you to apply for South Korean government scholarship. It's not too competitive and they always give preferences to those with science discpline. Somebody I know got it this fall semester. Research about the next one and apply, you may likely get it. Alternatively, you can apply for postdoctoral research in one of the universities there, I think Pusan National University accepts postdoctoral students and they also give scholarship. So you may well look into them. Lastly, leave your family in Nigeria first and relocate, when things stabilize for you, you can come and take them.

Being intelligent and being educated are two different thing.

Bros, i can't lie, you got both, with the way you just analyze things now.

Thumb up for you

@OP, its now your choice to take his wonderful advice.
