Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still together -- and they've now taken legal action against the British tabloid that claimed otherwise.

The A-list couple is suing News of the World over its report that the stars were broken up and dividing their fortune.

"The News of the World has failed to meet our clients' reasonable demands for a retraction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations, which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets. We have advised them to bring proceedings, which they have now done," Brangelina's London attorney Keith Schilling says, The Guardian reports.

Several weeks ago, News of the World claimed Brad and Angelina had met with a lawyer in December to discuss the division of their combined millions and custody of their six children -- Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

"However, in this case we can confirm unequivocally, and upon instructions, that the allegations published by the News of the World are false as well as intrusive," their lawyer adds.

Although the pair hadn't been seen together much in recent months, since the News of the World story broke, they've been spotted at the Director's Guild Awards as well as this weekend's Super Bowl in Miami.

With conflicting reports circulating saying that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are split, and then denials claiming they're still together also coming from all angles, it can be very confusing. In the hopes of clearing up any Brangelina-based fog, PopEater reached out to author Ian Halperin, whose recent book 'Brangelina' predicted the demise of the supercouple and went into the inner-workings of their lives. Halperin tells PopEater that he's confirmed the couple have indeed split, and even predicts how the drama will unfold in the media over the next few weeks.

It's not about suing the tab gangan, it's about getting the source of the story, which everyone knows is Ian Halperin. The idiot wrote a book about them where he made some egregious claims. . .[size=35pt]Jolie sleeps with plants and Animals[/size], the twins are not Pitts, Pitt is a drunk, Jolie is a nutcase, they are neglectful parents and so many more.

Anyway, the book was not the blockbuster hit he expected. . .that thing sank faster than the titanic and he's been trying every which way to revive interest in it and feeding the tab is one of them. It doesn't help his case that he practically admitted the writer of the News of the world story is his friend.

They are suing the NOW because it's a british tab and the laws there are more tab suing friendly.
