The Day I Died (true Life) by Nobody: 4:35pm On Aug 02, 2017
Some few years ago, I visited a
mentor of mine (Pst. Israel
Akinsanya of Living Faith Church
Ekpoma) who is turning a well
acclaimed “dry church” by some
other pastors to a church flowing
with milk and honey. I was so
fascinated by the numerous projects
going on in the church that I had to
ask him to tell me the secret. He just
looked at me, smiled, and said
Johnspeak; if success is what you
seek in life then you must
understand three things:

Firstly: You must be convinced that
what you intend to do or
already doing is God’s plan and
purpose for your life.

Secondly: You must be willing to
dare flesh and blood to start out
that vision in your heart

Thirdly: You must be ready to die to
other alternatives in order to
actualize your vision and dreams.

So, it doesn’t matter how great your
vision is, until you are dead to
alternatives, you may abandon it
when the storm arise. I have seen
people with great business ideas
abandon them for government or
other jobs because they weren’t
dead to other alternatives. Dead
people don’t change their minds or
develop second thought, dead people
are not moved by the circumstances
around them, dead people are not
moved by inflation, weather
conditions, political instabilities,
dead people don’t retrace their
steps, they don’t turn to the left,
right or go backward, the only path
they follow is the path that goes
forward to judgment seat.

Our success will come faster if only
we will decide to shut our ears,
minds, and eyes to other
alternatives of our visions and
dreams. There will always be
alternatives. For example, an
alternative to a successful
entrepreneurial journey will be to
get a job. An alternative to coming
up with ideas to develop our
communities will be to travel
abroad for greener pastures. An
alternative to getting a degree will
be to go for a business
apprenticeship with the aim of
becoming rich faster than your
peers that furthered their education.

Most often, alternatives are killers
of great dreams and visions and the
only true way to overcome
alternatives is to be dead to them.
Men like Bill Gate and Mark
Zukerberg for instance, wouldn’t
have gone far with their ideas of
Microsoft and Facebook if they
weren’t dead to other alternatives
like dropping out of Harvard. If
music is what you are gifted at, then
make it your only job until it starts
bringing in the monies you need to
invest in other businesses.

After deciding to go into discover, develop and work with my Talent
(motivational speaking) , I knew I had
to die to other alternatives that I
may be tempted to fall to if
motivational speaking wasn’t
paying the bills. I knew I had to
make it work by all means otherwise
I may end up jobless. The moment I
died, I realized an inner strength
and zeal that I didn’t know I had. If you want to be on
the safe side, then it’s advisable to
get a part time job, but if you intend
to get the best out of your vision
then you must be ready to die to other
alternatives.

I also read the story of the founder
of one of the biggest Christian
organization in Africa; the Living
Faith Church Bishop David O.
Oyedepo who had to die to other
alternatives by giving up his Job in
Ilorin Nigeria just to actualize his
vision. According to him, he told
himself that it will be a shame to
him if a part time pastor succeeds
more than him. You and I can see the outcome of that decision. To be dead to
alternatives is simply to become a
one eyed visionary person, focused,
dedicated, determined and
unwavering. Deadness to
alternatives will release unusual
strength on you, it will awaken your
creativity, it will make you
responsible and work harder
because if you don’t, there will be
no other way to pay your bills.

Succeed You Must.
