The leader and prophetess of a Cherubim and Seraphim Church has been arrested by the police in Ota, Ogun State, over the death of a woman in her church.

The suspect, identified as Prophetess Aminatu Lasisi, is the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ori-Oke Koseunti Iwa Mimo Olorunda near Owode-Idiroko, Ogun State.

The deceased Kafayat Tayelolu Lasisi, 21, reportedly died as the suspect was allegedly trying to exorcise a sprit of witchcraft from her body.

The deceased Kafayat was impregnated by the prophetess’ son, and thus became the prophetess’ daughter-in-law. The deceased thereafter became a member of the church and gave birth to a son, Samson Lasisi.

The prophetess claimed that an evil spirit was disturbing Kafayat and the deceased cooperated with the prophetess by submitting her head, armpit and pubic hairs to the suspect for spiritual cleansing.

Having done this, the deceased became sick and started bleeding from the nose and mouth. She eventually died last Saturday inside the church.

A police source revealed that angry youths stormed and ransacked the church. Items discovered in the church include panties and hairs tied together with different names inscribed on them, black soap, image candle tied upside down, a 25-litre plastic of fresh human blood and some fetish objects buried in the church.

Police said she has made a confessional statement to them. As at the time of filing this report, the suspect was still being detained at Onipanu Police Station, Ota, Ogun State, for further investigations.

Meanwhile, angry youths in the area have demolished her church while protesting the death of Kafayat.
