Getting your first gig on a relatively new platform like Findworka can be challenging for many freelancers. We have discovered, from the data available to us, that following the steps below can put you in a better position when a new digital project is posted on the platform.

1. Make your profile speak for you: Toot your horn, carefully describe your skills and your relevant experience but don’t exaggerate. Go straight to the point, don’t around the bush otherwise the client might get bored reading it. Upload a decent picture, make sure your face is showing clearly and you can smile. Finally get testimonial from your previous clients and flaunt them by adding it to your profile.

2. Be consistent: Keep improving your profile, keep bidding on relevant projects (things you can do), keep adding to your portfolio. If necessary, bid lower on projects. The more you keep at it, the better your chance at higher paying projects.

3. Prepare your pitch wisely: Your pitch is one of the most important things a client will look closely at when deciding whether to hire you or not. Always write unique pitch that fits the gig you are bidding for, avoid using templates. And also, your pitch has to be short and straight to the point.

4. Don’t bid too low or too high: Know your worth and be confident during negotiations. Try as much as possible to provide decent budget that seems reasonable. Your bidding price shouldn’t far lower or higher than the client’s budget.

5. Don’t give up: Finally. in the first few months after signing up, it is possible to not get a gig but don’t give up. Continue to bid, keep bidding, don’t stop. Our algorithm rewards activity. Freelancers who place bids consistently tend to show up higher in search results.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
