A 32-year-old man, Friday Okike from Arochukwu, Abia State who resides at Ibenda in Effium Autonomous Community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has allegedly butchered his elder brother, Mr. Monday Okike to death.

Orient Daily reliably gathered that Monday Okike was slain by his younger brother Friday Okike following bloody battle that trailed an alleged attempted rape on the attacker’s pregnant wife.

According to eyewitness account, all was well with the Okike brothers until Friday’s

wife raised the rape alarm that attracted her husband. “When Friday rushed to rescue his wife who was heavily pregnant, he met his brother, Monday struggling with his wife on the ground as he was said to almost sniffed life out of the woman”, the source who preferred anonymous said.

Another resident of the com- munity told Orient Daily that the family of Okike were known for such notorious act, that their ancestors were involved in similar barbaric incident.

According to a source from the community, rather than Monday admit to the crime, he first used machete on his brother and inflicted injury on his back. This infuriated Friday

who challenged his brother and successfully snatched the cutlass from him and in turn revenged by using the cutlass to butcher him (Monday)

The anonymous source further told Orient Daily that after the incident, people living within the neighbourhood deserted the scene of the incident, leaving the wife of Friday alone with the mutilated body of Monday in the compound.

Confirming the incident, Ebonyi State Police Spokesperson, Mr. Jude Madu said the two brothers had family problem that led to the killing. “There was a quarrel among two of them bodering on family dispute. Friday killed his brother and ran into the bush, but police has arrested him”, he said.[quote][/quote]
