YOLICOM opposes use of chemical weapons, blames Nigeria for growing frustration of Yoruba youths

The Yoruba Liberation Movement, (YOLICOM) today has said that it does not subscribe to the use of chemical weapons as stated by the leader of The Young Yoruba For Freedom, (YYF) Mr Adeyinka Grandson. The group reiterated its earlier call for Oodua Republic which it hopes to realize in the shortest time possible.
In a statement made available to Irohinoodua and signed by Mr Abdul Motajo, on behalf of YOLICOM Foreign Affairs Committee stated that the issues raised by YYF were critical issues except the area involving the use of Chemical Weapons.
YOLICOM stated "the attention of Yoruba Liberation Command, (YOLICOM) has been drawn to a video clip issued by Mr Adeyinka Grandson where he made statements to the effect that he supports Oduduwa Republic. He also made proposals about changing the names of Murrala Mohammed Airport, (MMM), Ahmadu Bello Way and the Nigerian Stock Exchange, (NSE) to reflect Yoruba heritage. These are novel ideas.”
YOLICOM however stated further “our point of departure is in the area of Chemical Weapon attack against the Hausa Fulani North. We wish to state that why YOLICOM will mobilise Yoruba people against aggression from the Nigerian State, we remain resolute in support of the United Nations Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, stockpiling and use of Chemical weapons which came into force on April 29, 1997.” YOLICOM supports international efforts to abolish the weapon and prevent their use adding the Yoruba Nation is committed to the full and indiscriminate implementation of the Convention.
YOLICOME stated that the future Yoruba Nation looks up to being a member of the UN and ‘we hope to respect international best practices.”
Motajo said: “YOLICOM is against the use of Chemical weapons in war or peace time. We urge the Nigerian state to see the video clip as a product of the government's refusal to listen to the babel of voices calling for self-determination which, every inch of the day, continues to push many young Yoruba to the extreme.”
The group stated that while YOLICOM appreciates the mammoth affection from various Yoruba organisations, we are yet to determine our affiliate organisations either at home or abroad. We urge Yoruba youths to continue the massive campaign for Oduduwa Republic in the most peaceful manner in accordance with global standards bearing in mind that the tempo of brutality of the Nigerian state will determine our proportional response now or in the near future. YOLICOM said Nigeria as a united country is an expired drug that will never heal her humanity but will rather inflict more grievous injuries on whoever subscribes to its prescription
