Hi Nlanders, after seeing a previous post on Chemical Engineering being one of the hardest degree in engineering, I would like to know what engineering course is the easiest so I can opt in with my jamb combo and average Mathematics skills.

Ranging from Civil, Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, Agricultural, Computer and Environmental engineering.

Based on :less calculations, getting high grades and being less stressful.

I think it's civil engineering.

What do you think??

It depends on the school. In MAUTech, students respect chemical engine bois the most.
But, some other schools, omo na civil engine bois dey garner respect pass oh.

Op, don't try this one. You'll end up doing civil, mech, metallurgical, in fact everything in this dept. Trust me!

It's a matter of one's perspective. If I were to be an engineer, I'd choose electrical and mechanical as second choice because of their versatility. Chems is also wide.

are u trying to say that agricultural engineering is the most difficult?

i think where other courses come to play is when u chose any of its options like:
farm machinery - mechanical
farm structures - civil
soil and water - civil
waste management, food processing - environment engineering

and not dat u will do all other courses from mech,or civil at once.
or wat do u mean?...hav u got info on it?

You'll only get to choose an option at the ultimate or penultimate semester. Through out the other semesters (8 - 9 semesters), you'll get do courses with roots from all other departments. Environmental Engineering, food engineering, Biomedical Engineering, agricultural metallurgy, structural statics and Dynamics, electrification etc Generalization is way more difficult than specialization

The easiest of them all is Agricultural but the job chances in this field are far and few.
Civil, Elect, Mechanical are hard but they have lot of good prospects.
Chemical is hard too and find application in different industries, Petroleum is same but u can only work in oil and gas industries. If u have a low mark, go for Agricultural, Materials or Mining.

Seriously? Don't be deceived by the "agricultural"... u only have to do like 3 or 4 courses in d faculty of agricultural sciences... Bro, Even the AGE courses start fully wen u get to like 400L... U ll do more of MEE, EEE, CSE, anf CVE... imagine d combo.. I rep AGE LAUTECH... and the dept has never produced a first class student in d history of d dept....

I get ur point but it is not a course that u need high mark to get into, I know a lot of people who were given the course because of low marks infact a friend of mine had to change department later on. Doing CVE or MEE doesn't make u a civil or mechanical engr. Job opportunities in the course is also far and near, I won't recommend it for anyone. The best engineering courses with great job opportunities in the labour market are Mechanical, chemical, Electrical, Civil, Petroleum and Metallurgical.
U mentioned a department not producing First Class in its history, u need to question the lecturers and the students, go to other schools and see how AGE produces First Class year to year. That a dept produces First Class or not doesn't make the course hard bro.

Nice one
i like that...But i still don't know why AGE graduates don't work in their field or why getting a job with the degree seem so difficult

its agriculture we're talking about here.

Good question, there are few firms that are into agricultural production, It is all about Oil and gas, construction, chemical, electrical and mechanical works and also the society has not helped matters, we are all looking for white collar jobs that we can be proud to show off so our young agricultural engr graduates had to dump agric since people view it that it is for uneducated people. Sincerely have seen load of job adverts from lot of jobsites and have never seen anyone mentioned Agricultural engineering. Their course is a course that is targeted at self-employability, a friend of mine had to go back to the village to start farming after service due to lack of job offers in the field. Am I discouraging people from studying the course??No, but it is mostly a self employability course thus one must be aware of what is ahead. Don't just settle for anyhow course, know what u want to build a career on and also the industries u can likely work after graduation. This is no longer the era of let me just go to school and get a degree, the labour market is competitive and people are looking for specialist in the needed field.

Bro /Sis I actually think that Agricultural engineers are at an advantage since they can be self employed or build careers on their course of study compared to the likes of microbiologist, biochemistry, etc which not only are their job opportunities in this country very few but they can't still be self employed on their chosen courses or build careers on them.

I actually don't see a reason why u won't advice someone (even with a low score) to pick this course because you think their demand in the labor market is very limited.

. I believe that there are graduates who studied most of the courses u pointed out as better ones who are still jobless today (i know of a jobless chemical engineer for abt 3 years now)

that is when you avoid Laplace,Fourier series power 1,2,3 cascading of block diagram in control engineering, go for the course that interest you no course is simple or hard just what you want and how you could become what you want.

U made a good point too brother. I will definitely recommend someone with a low mark but the person must be aware of its rigours and the place of self employability. One more thing, what makes self employability hard is the needed finances, If one can get that, with determination, diligence, dedication, one will surely make it. Some of these courses are meaningful infact every course but the Nigeria factor has put some courses as lucrative and the other as inferior. I know someone who had to write Jamb and leave microbiology in part 3 to medicine due to few Job opportunities in the field.

If anyone who is considering Electrical/Electronic Engineering to be the easiest is making a mistake.
EEE is not all about wires as many would think, its has a lot to do with mathematical applications on circuit and systems.
so if u re looking for an engineering course that certifies ur mentioned abilities, average mathematical ability, less stressful, good grades (probably doing magics to get high grades without working hard), broh certainly its hard to tell.
I'm studying Elect/Elect Engrn,400L. and to be honest with you, if u don't have a strong mathematical background, zeal to over work ur brains,u won't excel there.
Mech Engrn, no doubt aint an option.
Computer; just like EEE, Nd technical.
Agric; stressful. coupled with d fact that u re going to borrow courses from Agric related fields/dept And Mech Engrn Dept.
Chem Engrn; no much mathematics, but research works and projects might weigh u down on d way even before u get to final year.

here's the thing bruh, change the less stressful mentality and trying working on ur mathematical ability if you want to be in engineering.

Tho Jamb's Chairman has said that no Uni has the right to deny a candidate admission because of fmaths coz it ain't included in Jamb's brocheure. So u are free to study your desired course now bro.
