My Letter of Guilt

I woke up this morning,
asking myself if I still felt guilty,
guilty for ignoring what I should've done,
and I discovered that even the guilt of what I had done,
still gnawed deep at my soul

Looking back its already late to take back all I had done,
the turbulent growl of my conscience numbed me continually,
and the fear vibrated my whole being like the whirr and him of a violin,
yes I still felt the guilt.

The mistakes of youth and its excitement,
has turned me to a bagful of regrets,
and the consequences with it,
nearly tagged my life a wasted one
and yes I still feel guilty.

Guilty for allowing my ears bath in false doctrines,
for allowing wrong ways seduce me like a LovePeddler,
and letting my legs swim in the oceans of evildoings,
and for letting my visions get blurred by wicked practices.

I had taken to beers like sweet wine,
and I had let the smoke from the pipe destroy my lungs,
tell me why I shouldn't feel guilty,
Even as I remembered the consequences that awaited me now,
I know I'm being encumbered with a burden of regrets.
yes I am.

African Woman.
I, The African Woman, a woman whose actions not only shows love, but one whose heart radiate care, a creature who everyone think is weak, but has strength greater than a lion's, a creature so beautiful.

My Skin which is as black as starless night, has rays of light of unique charms illuminating from it, Although you think the black of my skin is too dark, I feel sorry because you don't see the bright lights that it emits, and once again you think I'm proud as a queen, And you wonder why so much grace I command.

I peered into your soul with my brown eyes, I can see you think I'm a creature from above, the way I carry myself you could liken me to an otter, like a bear, everything I touch is a testimony of great tenacity, But I'm glad I motivated you and the little time you spend, trying to study me, I assure you wasn't a waste at all.

I fall, fail and cry, but I never fail to rise up and try again, because I'm the African Woman, And from my breast, the milk of beauty falls, That is the strength of an African Woman.

BLACK CURSE

Stalking the dark corridors of the black earth
A plague of oppression on our history has left a large dent
It first began when the white men came as sheep
Hiding their wolf hides
We were exported as slaves to foreign lands
Just because of the color given to us as a gift from our maker above
which became expertly crafted as a curse by men with white gloves.
Maybe because of their perceived higher intellect
Or our lack of a unified voice

But help came our way
Voices had their say
From the mines of South Africa to the hills of America
Martin and Nelson rose as deliverers
Freedom and democracy became our mantra
Echoing that phrase eased our black pain
But like they say sheer ignorance is bliss
We now betray ourselves like Judas did with a kiss
Years has passed since the wolves freed us from our chain
The rich leaders took over where the wolves left
Power drunk and insane committing great theft
Now the veil has being lifted
The truth emancipated
We now see the fault lies within us
The time has now come to break free from Pharaoh's curse
It is deeply in us

Let it melt as the flavored candy
I am the sugar...I am your daddy
You will be queen of my heart and my bed
You will be gentle...I will be naughty

I will adore you better than those boyfriends
I am the sugar...I am your daddy
You will be treated to sweet affection on borrowed time
You are my baby...I am your randy

Come into my arms sweet supple flower
Come caress my chest and take me higher
Everything I own shall be yours sweet lover
Thou art my sugar...I am your papa

I will buy you the silky hairs of the Indian bride
And the golden fleece of a German ride
You will be the secret fantasy I may gladly hide
You should be my mugu...and I your Maga

Do not worry about my quick ejaculation
I also test the microphone forget the occasion
I am still a champion in the game, do not question
You are my pupil...I am your master

Age is just a number dear child
I might be old but I am virile and wild
I will divorce my wife and marry you
You are the stupid...I am your daddy

CONFUSED
.
Together we were born. twins
Me into a trouser
And she into a skirt
All born into clothes
.
We look good on ourselves
All sexes are equal
But som are more equal
.
My sister wore my trouser
Wow. Really
A good figure she got
As it crawl up her legs
Boys and girls
In admiration turn
As she walk down the street
.
What is then wrong in my case?
.
'I sure look good' I assured myself
As I looked at myself the last time
With the short skimpy skirt hanging on my waist
I slowly, calmly walk the same street
Admiration turns I expected
From boys and girls
.
People gathered shouting
I thought cheers and demonstrated
Footsteps chasing after me
Iron hands gripped me
Before I could say 'Jack'
To the psychiatry they led me
Proclaiming me mad
.
Some times with the mentally disturbed
I lost my personality
Are we then mentally disturbed
Or simply just confused?
.

SUCCESS LANE PLYERS

Do you know about the success lane
Rough and tough only the bold ply with its plane
discouragement is in the blacklist of those in the success train
Always steady moving ahead never to miss the main aim
Those on the success lane are high flyers
They see obstacles as. great opportunities
always ready to take risks
they have creativity in their blood
I call them opportunist
they turn their disadvantages
into great advantages
the high flyers in our society
the great. thinkers in the community
determined never to up
no matter the hold. up
looking forward to greater goals
they create opportunities while others are in search of opportunities
The success lane plyers are miners of great and sophisticated ideas
Impact makers who crave for more knowledge
the individuals who are never biased over issues they put interest in
They see failure as stepping stone to greater heights
Theirs power is never determined by their physical strength and might
but by the goals achieved and heights attained
The success lane plyers are individuals with a difference who don't see anything as difficult but see it as what requires hardwork and effort
leaving their comfort zones. to greater heights

I've seen beautiful poems on this platform I must confess and it will be difficult to single one person out.
I suggest a panel of professionals be set up to look into these poems and trim poems down to maybe 5 or 3 finalists before unanimously picking a winner.

Great idea!

But, it came too late, we've got less than 72hrs for the competition to end, same thing is happening in the short story competition, many beautiful short stories, but just the writer who get the highest likes wins. the interesting part is that, it's a readers choice, they read and like whichever one they deem fit.

Last time I checked, write up like 'Weeping mother' by Marianneada had 36votes.

I just saw the mention.

grin sorry I had no idea that there is a song/story titled I have a dream, I would have gone for another title.

But sincerely speaking, I don't even know what MLK stands for.

I have a dream is just my own teenage way of expressing the kind of Nigeria I want to live in. It has nothing to do with MLK.
Thanks.

Still waiting, but I thought the votes will decide.

cheesy it turns out my short story got 17 likes, I didn't enter the short story competition for the price, afterall I composed, wrote and edited the story in less than 30 minutes.

But this one, Hmmmmm. Let me just keep my hands crossed.

And then, there will no longer be food sarcasity or food shortage,
Yes, I have a dream!

I have a dream,
A wonderful dream, I saw this country produce great scientist, world-class technicians and engineers,
That will help move this country to the unattainable point in the world of science.

I have a dream,
That one day,
In this great country, we would be able to sleep with our two eyes closed,
Without fear of armed robbers, terrorists and famine.
Yes, I have a dream!

A dream of a better country,
Functioning educational system, good roads, constant electricity, terrorist-free and hunger free.
I dream of a united country.

Hello writers,

I love your works and most of it helps me through the day.

I decided to give ten thousand Naira to the best original poem of 200 words...not more than 200 words and not less.

Post your work here and let it be an original work.

Winner will be decided by the number of likes he/she gets on his post.

Open to other ways of suggesting a winner but I think that the above suggestion is the most transparent.

Thanks for participating.

Prize is 10,000 Naira. Will be wired to winners account or given cash depending on the winners preference.

Competition ends on Monday 21st August 2017
the poem "I have a dream" has the highest likes for now, but I think you should look into the originality of that poem. I didn't submit anything but I am a poem lover and I know a good one wen I see it, that is not an original work, I don't know about others' views and opinions.

Bro, I already clarified the issue, When I wrote this I had no idea there's something like MLK I have a dream, even if I wanted to copy and past, why would I copy and paste something so obvious?

I read MLK I have a dream fo the first time last night.
You said it'ss a copy and paste of his work, there was similarites but this is just something I came up with entirely on my own. Wanderlustafrik, I'm so sorry If it's similar, if I had known earlier, I would have come up with another poem.

Micurve14 thanks for your input. I already pointed that out.
Profuhrer is doing a nice job of helping me select a winner by eliminating those that broke the rules so as to give the people that kept to the rules a fair chance.
We will post a shortlist of contestants that adhered to the rules and pick a winner.
This should ensure that contestants keep to the rules for the next competition.

I know about the originality issue, I was also a judge in the stars competition.

When the issue started yesterday, I had to googlee MLK's I have a dream and that was when I saw it. Why would I copy and paste something that would be so obvious?
