Lassa fever is a febrile illness caused by a virus, it is transmitted through contact with the urine or excreter of an infected rat or through contact with an infected person.
Lassa fever is preventable and can be treated, however, the chance of survival depends on early detection and treatment.

Preventive measures
1. Avoid tasting Garri in the market
2. Avoid soaking or drinking garri for now
3. Wash your hands always with soap and water
4. Store food properly away from rat's reach
5. Keep homes and environment clean
6. Block all rats hideouts
