The internet was agog with the news of the news of Jeff Bezos taking a short stint as the world’s richest man, ousting the Microsoft tech giant – Bill Gates, who has held on to the top spot since the May 2013.

The Beginning…

Jefferey Preston Bezos, born in the 1960’s, triples as the Chairman, CEO and Founder of Amazon.com, the world’s largest virtual store. However, he wasn’t in anyway exempted from the rigours that accompany starting out a company born out an idea – there is no bed of roses at the beginning, most especially one testing out on a new trend – Jeff set sail on the surging wavy trend of the internet moving across computers all over the world.

One could safely say that tomorrow’s billionaires are today’s risk takers -Jeff Bezos left a well-paying job at 30 years old on the Wallstreet to start Amazon from his Seattle garage in 1994, about 22 years ago. He started the company initially as a virtual store that sells only books over the internet before expanding his frontiers to Amazon’s current wide variety of products and services – after deliberating on what to start with, he concluded that books were universal and cheap.

Jeff Bezos started Amazon.com with a seed capital from his parent’s personal life time savings, a decision which they have never come to regret. In 1997, Amazon.com declared its shares public after just 3 years of its establishment, while just having 256 employees. Today, it’s obvious that the decision stands out as one of the many successful risky decisions taken by Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Inc has since grown exponentially to become the world’s number one online retails company, with Jeff Bezos at the helm of its affairs.
