Andre Maurois; a French author once said, ‘Art is an effort to create, beside the real world, a more humane world’. Ondo state at a frame is a 5 by 11 size painting done by Bello Imoudu Ameen on wall at the national monument in Ondo state (Deji Palace Akure). It is a colourful and careful depiction of the day to day activities of the Ondo state people.
Ondo State at a frame portrays the king on his throne stepping on the back of a Tiger and blessing his subject; the throne symbolizes royalty, the white crown represents power and the horse tale stands for authority while the tiger stands for strength. This illustrates the extent of the kings power over his people, the subject shows the maximum respect of the Yoruba people to the throne and everybody in general.
Residents of Ilaje; a local government in the state are popularly known for their fishing ability therefore, the painting portrays the people engaging themselves in their day to day activities which is fishing.
It is also a colourful and beautiful interpretation of the peoples love and spirit for festivity by displaying different demonstrations and dance by masquerades, the people and the drummer.
People of Ondo are popularly known for farming and hunting so the illustration shows a lady hawking farm products which represents the spirit of business, while the cocoa and the big fruit of cocoa on a tree shows that they are the largest cocoa producing state in the nation.
In all, this illustration done with gloss paint explains why Ondo State is known as the Sunshine State.
Bello Imoudu Ameen is an HND holder from Auchi Polytechnic. He has painted professionally for three years but within these years he has made several high profile pieces for formal Governor of Ondo state Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu the present Governor of the state and Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi just to say a few. Ondo state at a frame is his latest master piece.
Ondo at a frame was commissioned by the Deji of Akure who was represented by his Queen, Olori Abimbola Aladetoyinbo the Eyesorun of Akureland.
