Apple to release a cellular version of its watch, later this year

Imagine a scenario where you could forget your iphone at work, and still text and take calls from friends and family with your new apple watch, not to talk of downloading and streaming videos. According to Bloomberg, apple’s new watch will have its own cellular connection unlike older ones which had to be linked to an iphone. What this means is that the new watch will be able to perform activities such as downloading, uploading files and connecting to an LTE network without the help of an iphone.




The watch is also rumored to coming with an Intel chip and that apple is in talks with AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile about carrying the cellular version.
This is not the first time-piece to carry its own cellular connection, Samsung’s gear S3 and LG’s Watch sport also offer this.

This is not the first step Apple has taken to separate its smartwatch from the iphone, last year’s model included GPS, even though that shortened its battery life, it still helped in making the watch more independent.

The cellular connection is not the only thing, this year’s new model will support, it will also support WatchOS 4 which has been promised to introduce more features like the ability to exchange information with gym equipment and many more.



The introduction of this year’s new watch will bring smiling faces to many groups of people; Apple will get richer, customers will have better interactivity with the watch and a wider market for smart watch developers, as they will surely develop apps made to run with the watch’s new features.
