Dedicated to our fallen brothers especially . A cadet I looked upon, a reason I didn't carry on during clownship era. now fallen. LT AC OGUNTOYE. Rip village, Rip homes In Your Honor Unselfishly, you left your fathers and your mothers, You left behind your sisters and your brothers. Leaving your beloved children and wives, You put on hold, your dreams-your lives. On foreign soil, you found yourself planted To fight for those whose freedom you granted. Without your sacrifice, their cause would be lost But you carried onward, no matter the cost. Many horrors you had endured and seen. Many faces had haunted your dreams. You cheered as your enemies littered the ground; You cried as your brothers fell all around. When it was over, you all came back home, Some were left with memories to face all alone; Some found themselves in the company of friends As their crosses cast shadows across the land. Those who survived were forever scarred Emotionally, physically, permanently marred. Those who did not now sleep eternally 'Neath the ground they had given their lives to keep free. With a hand upon my heart, I feel The pride and respect; my reverence is revealed In the tears that now stream down my upturned face As our flag waves above you, in her glory and grace. Freedom was the gift that you unselfishly gave Pain and death was the price that you ultimately paid. Every day, I give my utmost admiration To those who had fought to defend our nation.

I stood and I watched as a mother cried, when she had heard that her son had died. He didn't die because he was sick, or he didn't die because he was in a wreck. He died doing what he felt was right. I watched a father try to hold back his tears, His son had lived only a scanty years. His son had died nine thousand miles away, And what was there left for a father to say? He got down on his knees and said a prayer, His brave son knows his father did care. I stood and watched as a little girl cried. She didn't understand why her brother had passed on; Why he never again played with her on the lawn. Looking at the little girl's tears I knew, That her big brother died fighting for you and me. |

Far above the storm clouds gathering Far above that midnight sky Looking out just past the rainbow Where eagles dare not fly Out among the ashes Of heroes long since past I will take my place among them When that final die is cast Let not your heart be troubled That's what I've always heard But I stood for what I believed in With these my final words For in this life but few things matter In this short time that we have here Leaving nothing behind but our honor The thing we hold most dear |

One lovely summer day As I was walking through the grass Reflecting on the very fondest Memories of my past I past an unfamiliar place And stopped a while to see Completely unsuspecting Of the change this place would bring I stood before a wall of names Two hundred and fifty-one Engraved upon a monument That pierced the shining sun And though, to all these names I was a stranger passing by I looked upon these names And there was one that caught my eye It may have been a moment Or an hour, or a year I walked up to the name And leaned in close so I could hear I closed my eyes and listened To the pure and priceless truth And came to understand the love Of which, this wall is proof It's said that he who bears The very greatest love of all Will sacrifice his life Before He'll see a dear friend fall Though people often wonder Whether such a man is real I see him now Through these engraven letters that I feel He's sitting with his brother telling stories as they laugh Of the greatest game's he'll ever pitch Of the biggest fish he'll catch He's standing by his colors On a hillside far away He's diving through the amber fire While others run away I search through all my memories Of the noble and the grand The courage and the truth That I've been taught to understand Of all the stories that are told This shall be told of you Dear Soldier, How you gave your life For those you never knew. |

There is discipline in A Soldier you can see it when he walks, There is honor in A Soldier you hear it when he talks. There is courage in A Soldier you can see it in his eyes, There is loyalty in A Soldier that he will not compromise. There is something in A Soldier that makes him stand apart, There is strength in A Soldier that beats from his heart. A Soldier isn't a title any man can be hired to do, A Soldier is the soul of that man buried deep inside of you. A Soldier's job isn't finished after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week, A Soldier is always A Soldier even while he sleeps. A Soldier serves his country first and his life is left behind, A Soldier has to sacrifice what comes first in a civilian's mind. If you are civilian - I am saying this to you..... next time you see A Soldier remember what they do. A Soldier is the reason our land is 'Home of the free', A Soldier is the one that is brave protecting you and me. If you are A Soldier - I am saying this to you..... Thank God for EVERY SOLDIER Thank God for what YOU do! |

He says he's leaving. He'll be gone about a year. He's headed off to fight the war, And his time is drawing near. I have no words of wisdom, To ease our aching hearts. He'll be gone and I'll be here, A thousand miles apart. The danger that soldiers face, He knows it all too well. Still, he keeps our spirits up, As our throats begin to swell. The morning comes all too fast, I'm not prepared at all. Because I know there is a chance, My soldier won't come home. My soldier is a strong man, One that's brave and true. He's not afraid of dying, He fights for me and you. So if you see a soldier, Give him lots of praise. Tell him that you're thankful, You see the price we pay. |

Although he could not say with words The love he felt inside He treasured every moment And his heart would fill with pride He never said I love you But he came to every game Even in defeat his son knew He loved him just the same He'd pat him on the head Or maybe ruffle his hair And tell him he was proud of him As long as he played fair When he graduated college I love you wasn't said He smiled as he shook his hand Mumbling, well done, my boy instead When his son went to war He trembled as he spoke And brushing away the tears He made a little joke Now, his son's come home And he stands with eyes downcast His hands stroking the coffin Saying I love you son at last! |

Waves lap against our boat as we wait in the cold wrap our selves in our coat Waiting for the order to be told Watching all our mates watch us Each thinking the same as the other Are we going to fight tonight Stand side by side like brothers Orders been given and off we go Terrifying noises all around Bombs exploding in our sight Machine guns are the other sound Bullets are whizzing past us now Dead bodies are scattered free People running for their life Screaming somebody help me Trying to make sense of all this Staying alive and alert through the night Wanting to go home to our family Keeping quiet and out of sight The enemy is near the footsteps are loud But we will not give in we stand together proud Family in unit brothers in blood Fighting our corner Covered in mud No one sees the fear in our eyes Waiting to see if its our time to die Not wanting to die this way But no other choice is what they say So here I lay in eternal sleep Replaying my life as a soldier Would I change a single thing? No this is my life This is what I live for This is all me This are my families We may not have a home but we save a home |

The soldiers life is not for all A soldier must be willing to give his all He is overworked and underpaid A truer patriot was never made Ready to go at any time Wherever there is trouble or the first sign His courage and honor are unsurpassed Ready and willing to complete the task Travelling to lands both near and far He stands his post and looks at the stars Wondering what he might have done If he had not chosen to carry a gun Remember the next time that you are driving by And see the flag flying proud and high That somewhere out there a soldier stands Weary and cold in a foreign land Protecting our country from our foes Standing tall and proud come rain or fire |

"A Letter From A Soldier" I fight for you everyday For your safety and freedom far, far away Everyday I fear that it may be my last Looking at what was important to me in the past I choose this life, to fight For your freedom, your eternal right It gets lonely out in this far distant land I have nothing but my gun and boots full of sand I pray to Jesus each and every night That he may shield me from this next fight I live each day with fear of death I never know when it will be my last breath "Lets Move Out" says my captain Always worried about what will happen I get my gear and my gun I ask myself "How much more, before this is done?" Bullets and RPG's zooming past my head I cant help but fear soon I will be dead Each and every second of life i cherish Because I never know when I will perish A sound of gun shots all around Bodies of young soldiers is all to be found Bombs shattering the buildings apart Mirror the pieces that are also my heart Every dying soldier causes me to tremble All the soldiers will start to assemble The greatest gift I can give Is to lay down my life so someone else may live All those young men who did not come home Also left their family and children all alone I'm here safe and sound Now with my family on my own ground I pray for my fellow soldiers everyday I ask the lord to reward them for what they had to pay Show mercy to all those who fell "lord, they have served their time in hell" I write this letter to you and to all To tell you about myself and those who answered the call Together we will get it done, we Are an army of one. |
