Having a self hosted blog is non negotiable: For people to see you as a blogger who means serious business then you have to do away with the free sub domains. You need to host your blog on your own domain.

You have to build a list of subscribers: Doing this would enable you have repeat visitors to your blog who will in turn your buyers.

You need to sell: The best way to be a successful blogger is to sell something, it can either be a product or a service.
