This is cheering news for all primary schools pupils and parents in Nigeria as the Minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has approved the release of the admission list of successful candidates into the Federal Unity Colleges for the 2017/2018 academic year.

A statement by the Federal Ministry of Education o Wednesday quoted the minister as saying that admission list into JSS I was on notice boards in the colleges and on their websites. The Federal ministry of education has created one website where candidates can check their admission status. This site is also used for the online registration covering all entrance examinations from common entrances at the primary school level. You can even print the list from the site page and photo card during examination periods.
UNITY SCHOOL IN NIGERIA
Unity schools in Nigeria, otherwise known as Federal Government colleges, have always been great places to study at and meet new people from all across the country. There are 104 unity schools in the country.
The first mention of the term ‘unity school’ in Nigeria dates back to the year1966. That year, three unity schools, or Federal Government colleges were established. Those were the colleges in Okposi (Eastern Region), Sokoto (Northern Region) and Warri (Midwestern Region)
As I mention earlier, there are 104 unity schools/federal government colleges in the country as of 2017. Each geo-political zone has enough unity schools to choose from. If you want to see a full list of all 104 Federal Government colleges, click here.
How to check your admission status on the list of candidates
The admission list is now online and all candidates who sat for the entrance examination are to check your admission status via the links that will be listed below;
• Enter your Registration Number
• View admission status and details
• Click on the “Print Status’ button
Students who have been offered provisional admission have two weeks after the release of the results to accept the offer; otherwise, they will have to be replaced by other candidates.

Good to know FGCs are still existing, though in my thinking, they have lost the vision of being a nationalistic and unifying institutions. You see more of admission of local pupils and being staffed by more of indigens

What can be done to return to the glory of the Unity schools, we must find out where we lost it and address it from there
