Alex Otti: enough is enough of your sabotage against Abia people

The attention of Abia Renaissance Group has been drawn to the many subversive attempts of the defeated 2015 All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in Abia State, Mr Alex Otti, to scuttle the realization of the recently approved $200m AfDB facility for infrastructural development in Abia State.

We are particularly worried as to the real motives of Mr Otti who during the 2015 campaigns informed Abians that he had obtained $100b facility from IFC to fund an industrial park at Aba, to cheers and applause even when it was obvious he was misleading voters in his desperate bid to be elected.

It is also important to note that same Otti in a recent article published on the 11th of December 2016 made the following assertions:

"On infrastructure, I had been an unrepentant apostle of government spending massively to provide infrastructure for industrial production and good quality of life for the populace. I had argued in my two part series “Chop Your Money 1&2” published on April 25, and May 9, 2016 respectively and another write-up titled “When and How to Spend the Money You Do Not have”, published on May 23, 2016, that we must spend a lot of money to deal with the present infrastructural decay. I had contended that it was more useful to spend our money on building roads, railways, refineries, power, hospitals and schools than save money in foreign bank accounts for which we do not get so much as interest, but also lose the benefits of having the much required infrastructure in place."-Alex
Otti

If indeed Mr Otti believes in what he wrote and said publicly one wonders why he is actively engaged in sabotaging the infrastructural development of Abia State simply because he was rejected at the polls by the majority of our people, as confirmed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

It appears to us that the serial legal and media distractions orchestrated by Mr Otti against the Government of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu over the past 2 years failed to yield his desired result of paralyzing the state and stunting its forward march and hence he has decided to further punish Abians for not voting for him thereby not clothing him with undeserved immunity from prosecution for his unfolding past activities in the banking industry.

We wish to inform Mr Otti and his cohorts that the people of Abia will not fold their hands and watch a political desperado scuttle the infrastructure development efforts of the government. More so when the arrow head of the negative effort has no investment in the state and only appears from his Lagos base to contest elections and/or distract the government.

Late Chief Sam Mbakwe borrowed to fix Aba, Umuahia and Owerri in the 80s and our people are still enjoying the facilities put in place. We fully support Governor Ikpeazu borrowing at the very low interest rate with 20 years repayment period and 10 years moratorium to fix Abia State.

It should be clear to observers that the posturing of Alex Otti and his co-travelers have nothing to do with altruism but rather purely politically motivated with the objective of ensuring that the Okezie administration does not succeed in delivering more dividends of democracy to the citizens.

We have noted the fact that the AfDB facility was the brain child of one of the world's best known financial Managers, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the President of World Bank visited Abia State and also endorsed the facility. Who then is Alex Otti in the financial or economic management scheme of things?

Otti should concentrate on clearing his mess in the banking industry.

That he has co-opted his fellow political desperado, Mr Uche Ogah, into condemning the facility whose processing started in 2014 obviously confirm the political motivations for their anti-Abia rants.

Politicians in Abia should desist from playing subversive politics that ultimately cost our people dearly.

Abians have total confidence in Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who has demonstrated capacity and desire to positively rewrite the infrastructure development story of our dear state.

The people of Abia State need rapid infrastructural development across the state to ensure good access to markets, farms and places of work. We will therefore not accept or tolerate any further attempt by desperate politicians to scuttle the AfDB facility.

Enough is enough, Mr Alex Otti.
