Owing to the decline in the availability of manual labour around my locality, I need to get a type of herbicide that SELECTIVELY controls weed in yam and cassava (grown separately) farms EFFECTIVELY.

Any valid info will be appreciated.

Note: my suggestion is based o the assumption that the yam farm is sole-cropped and on a ridge or mould. and. that the vines are trellised.

1.use paraquat
2. use paraquat and atrazine combo

carefully use force-uron for that cassava farm if the weed is not well grown. and use dragon for that yam farm

Paraquat and 2-4D amine for the cassava.
2litres each in 250L of water for one hectare. using a shielded spray because the paraquat is a contact herbicide and will harm cassava leaves on contact but will have no effect on the brown stem of the cassava.

The 2-4D will kill all grasses on the field but will not harm the cassava though, but instead of spraying each one at a time, you mix together and spray both once. Paraquat will kill the broad leaves.

I dont know about yam though

is it selective for yam?

Atrazine is a soil herbicide (pre-emergence) for weed seeds in soil. Not effective in post emergence weed mgt.
