Fela was great in his human rights fight but he also contributed to the spread of HIV and other diseases due to his lifestyle.
He should not be regarded as a role model for kids, in many areas!

The new kids are making marketable music, you mean! They wanna make money, be famous, travel, party wild, travel wide, hobnob with the rich&pampered and be adored while screwing exotic bodacious chicks all-expenses paid! coolgrin

That era of the Marleys, Dube's, Fela etc is gone.

Now, being a "Prisoner of Conscience", "Freedom Fighter", "Radical-RastaMan" etc almost has no benefits at all. You'll only end up almost ruining your life and family in the process.

You wanna pass any sensible message like Sound Sultan, Lord of Ajasa etc, best be ready for kids you started talking yesterday to overtake you on the Hit-Charts like it's cakewalk; and you wanna sound moral etc, best go join Sinach and co on the #GospelTrain!

These boiz wanna party and girls, fans and society won't just let them be!

I fully agree with your analysis...

What makes him a legend? angry
He sold weed and drugs with reckless abandon to many young men and women, many of them lost track of their destinies.
Underage girls party all night at his compound.
Please aside his criticism of the government, who feLa help? undecided

His music should be the legend, not him.

Feckoff monkey, your role model is a drug user who married dozens of women and spread disease everywhere?
I acknowledged his human rights fight but the rest of his life was nothing to be proud of.

If you aspire to be like him then you are a m0ron!

I believe you can still make music with loaded messages and still be successful, most of our musicians are just lazy. I don't think Asa is poor, she spend most times touring France and Europe. If Davido and Wiz kids represents our best musicians then today's music is hopeless. Well I guess that's what today's people want, if you check you tube you see them having million likes and people like simi or adekunle gold not so popular.
