Now that the F.C. Barcelona vs F.C. Liverpool face-off in the Phillipe Coutinho transfer saga seem to have come to an end (at least for now), some hitherto unknown details are beginning to filter out of the press in Spain.

One of such is a report emanating from Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, who claim that Juventus star, Paulo Dybala was twice offered to the La Liga giants. The report claimed that F.C. Barcelona were so desperate to sign Philippe Coutinho that they turned down the chance to buy Paulo Dybala.

it is no longer news that Barcelona went all out for Phillipe Coutinho’s signature this summer as a result of the departure of Brazil team-mate Neymar to PSG. But despite the fact that the 25-year-old handed in a transfer request, his current team blatantly refused him the chance to leave for the Nou Camp before the Spanish transfer window closed last Friday night thereby ensuring that F.C. Barcelona ended up missing out on their top target of the transfer window.

El Chiringuito went on to reveal the fact that F.C. Barcelona were twice given the chance to sign Dybala instead, first of all for £110m (€120m) but they snubbed those offers to focus all of their attention on signing Phillipe Coutinho.

Some other unconfirmed reports however attributed all of that to the fact that “Barcelona were concerned that Paulo Dybala and Lionel Messi could not play together, according to Jugones”. That however sounds funny and unbelievable since both Lionel Messi and Paulo Dybala play together in the Argentinian National Football Team.
