How To Reduce IT Cost Using Thin Client Technology For Smes In Nigeria by BigPie: 5:20pm On Sep 05, 2017
Thin clients are basic terminals that connect to the central server with none of the applications and storage on the desktop. The hardware costs less, consumes less power and it is easier to secure systems on the server rather than on each desktop.

Thin client computing is normally associated with large corporate, but research from Lancaster University reveals an advantage for SMEs. Analysts at Lancaster University insist that any business with more than six employees can cut their IT expenditure by half with thin clients.

Small businesses could cut their IT costs in half by ditching PCs and replacing them with thin clients, according to research. Compared with traditional PCs, thin clients cut :

Maintenance cost by 71%
Hardware and capital expenditure down by 61%
Energy costs by 51%

As SMEs are an important aspect of the Nigerian business sector, being able to cut IT cost improves the quality of small businesses.
