On Wednesday, a Minna Grade 1 Magistrate' Court put on hold the judgement of a 32-year-old man, Ayuba Salihu, who pleaded guilty for raping an 8-year-old girl inside a market.

The Prosecutor for the State Child Rights Protection Agency, Mr Abdullahi Mayaki, explained to the court that the incident took place on Aug. 31 near Gwari Market in Chanchaga Local Government Area.

Mayaki futher said that the offender seduced the minor with N100 into a market before forcefully penetrating her.

The act violates Section 18, sub-section 2 of Niger state Child Right Law.

The offence is measurable to life imprisonment, according newsmen report.

Chief Magistrate Hassan Mohammed, who ruled the accused guilty, adjourned the case until Sept. 12 for final judgement.

Hassan explained the adjournment will give the offender enough time to provide the medical expenses spent on the girl by her parents.
