Premier League summer transfer window to close before the start of the new season from 2018.

Premier League clubs vote in favour of closing the summer transfer window before the start of the season, starting in 2018/19!

Premier League to amend summer transfer window, starting 2018/19.

The current window closed on Aug. 31, more than two weeks after the start of the domestic campaign, but this will now change to 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the start of the season. It will not, however, impact the length of the window, simply meaning that the registration period in England will open earlier.

If other European leagues continue to allow the movement of players until August 31, as is commonplace presently, they will still be able to buy players from the English top flight but will not be able to sell their stars to Premier League clubs.

The vote took place at a shareholders' meeting, after it had been widely reported that the majority of clubs were in favour of the move.

Several major sides saw their start to the campaign disrupted by transfer sagas, including Liverpool with Philippe Coutinho and Arsenal with Alexis Sanchez.
