NPFL Title Goes To The Wire. Plateau United Or MFM? by uneeking(m): 6:17am On Sep 08, 2017
For the very first time in many years now, the Nigerian Professional Football League Champions will not be known until the very last second of the competition. The last round of matches take place tomorrow and until they have all ended, no one can say who the winners are and who the relegated teams are.

This is one competition that has been so highly rated like never before in the history of modern Nigerian Football and kudos must go to the untiring efforts of the League Management Board that has continuously improved on their efforts year in, year out.

As it stands presently, most interest is in who finally wins the prestigious title. Interestingly, whIchever of both teams (Plateau United and MFM) wins it, will be doing so for the very first time in their history.

The odds slightly favour Plateau United in the sense that they will be playing at home in front of their teeming fans, state and national dignitaries.

However apart the fact that it may put the team under unusual pressure, the other challenge is the fact that they are playing against a resurgent and very experienced side in Rangers International of Enugu. The players will just have to find a way of finding full concentration on the game if they are to come out tops tomorrow.

On the other hand, MFM is also not going to have it easy in their own schedule against an El-Kanemi side that has never lost at home this season. The best any team has been able to get against them at that fortress of a stadium is a draw.

Unless something seriously unexpected happens, they expect to win this particular game which will serve as a way of thanking their home fans for their support in the course of a reasonably good season for them.

Taking into account all of the above stated facts, the chances of winning the coveted NPFL Title is slightly in favour of the Jos-based side, Plateau United who presently lead the standings by a point above the Lagos-based “prayer warriors” MFM.
