The National Council of Arts and Culture commissioners would understudy the Dubai’s cultural sector in the bid to reposition Nigeria’s cultural sector, Director General of National Council of Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has said.

The commissioners will also learn how Dubai Government were able to turn the country’s culture into a foreign exchange earner.

Speaking in Lagos during the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of the Akwaaba Africa Travel Market on Sunday, September 10 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, He said Nigeria will soon focus on culture as a major income earner instead of oil.

“Nigeria will soon give the oil a break as the culture will now become the country’s new oil.”

“We will be taking the country’s culture commissioners to Dubai to understudy how the country was able to reposition their culture as foreign exchange earner.”

Runsewe commended the organizer of Akwaaba Africa Travel Market Mr Ikechi Uko for sustaining the Travel Market. Runsewe also called on stakeholders to support the travel Market.

Akwaaba Travel Market is an Africa Exhibition and the largest travel fair in West Africa. The 3-Days event is organized yearly by Mr Ikechi Uko and this year is the 13th edition.
