I am a Christian but I have to do this because of the hypocrisy been proliferated by Nairaland.

While it is a good thing to resolve religious e-wars that has been a bane on this forum by giving Islam it's own section, I find it appalling that those who cried wolf initially are becoming increasingly guilty of the same vice.
Many muslims while hiding under the one-sided law of nairaland create topics and write posts ( some which are intentionally pushed to front-page) just to bash the Christian religion and abuse its prophets and beliefs. They do this because they are aware adherents of other faiths are prohibited from commenting in the Islam section. But this is not so for the other section used by Christians and other faiths. There , it is a free-for-all thing where even the Muslim are free to create threads and posts topics that maybe offensive to other faiths.

Is that not favouritism of one faith over another?
Isn't that double-standard attitude??

There is a thread on front-page right now discussing about Jesus Christ. It is not a bad thing for muslims to talk about Jesus Christ since they claim they believe in him but the issue with doing that on a thread that was intentionally pushed to front-page is that the writer was always opposing/dissing Christian beliefs about Jesus.

Can a thread about opposing views of what Muslim believe about Mohammed be created by a Christian be pushed to front-page

I am not against any religion but nairaland double-standard attitude especially on religion is really oozing.
Seun and his mods ....take note
u ve gotten it all completely wrong.

First of all, let me challenge u to show me a Muslim thread in which Christianity and any Prophet was insulted as u ve asserted in ur post.

Secondly, the bigoted intolerant attitude of nairaland Christians towards muslims, which I believe if u er objective enough with ursef u ll admit its sickening level, necessitated a Nairaland Islamic section.
Nairaland Islamic section isn't favoritism, rather it's a step to bring sanity to NL since the mods ve identified the aggressors.

I can bet a million bucks that the thread on nl fp talking about Jesus will not experience the presence Muslims confessing their hate for Christianity. However, this is not the case with Christians. Christians look for all sorts of reasons to insult Islam and it's Prophet barring any room for any constructive discourse.

This sickening intolerant attitude of Christians haven't gone unnoticed to the embarrassment of NL mods of which majority profess the religion of Christianity.

Christians need to stop hating.

You deviated from the intention of my post. Now look at my point.
In settling the religious hatred that existed between Christian and Muslim on nairaland, seun and his mods gave you guys another section in which other adherents of other faiths are prohibited from commenting . But Muslims are allowed to comment on Christian religious thread.
That is like gagging the freedom of expression of Christians while allowing muslims freedom to express themselves.
This led to a situation where muslims create threads in the Islamic section purposely to bash the Christian religion . Doing this isn't that bad afterall since the thread is limited to the Islamic section. But it is bad when such topic grace the front-page . It simply shows the leadership of nairaland is promoting the biased views of such thread since Christians can't comment or air their views on an issue they are being mentioned.
Imagine a thread quoting the Bible that says "Jesus Christ died for our sins" and saying it is false.
Why can't Muslim propagate their religion or views without mentioning Christianity or its stand on the issue being discussed.

It is absolutely wrong to put a topic from the Islamic section on front-page where the writer says the Christian belief on a particular issue is wrong.
That is the point.

May Allah increase you in knowledge Sir. They are apprehensive about nothing but the need to protect their business empires under the guise of religion. Their case is not different from the CEOs who can fight dirty to keep their competitors our of market.

OPPOSITION TO SUKUK: CAN IS PLAYING ‘DOG IN THE MANGER’

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) issued a press statement yesterday to protest against the Federal Government’s first ever sukuk (noninterest lease assets facilities) which was announced last week. The statement which was dated 19th September, 2017 was signed by CAN’s General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Musa Asake.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) considers CAN’s position demeaning. It is not only infantile, petty and overbearing but also spiteful and egocentric.

Our position is based on the fact that CAN has all it needs in Nigeria today because the whole system is Christo-Western: education, the judicial system, the economy, everything. Muslims who were deprived of all their Islamic landmarks and ways of life by the colonialists are constrained to start the struggle all over again by demanding Shari’ah, use of hijab in schools, Islamic banks, sukuk, etc. It must be made clear ab initio that Nigerian Muslims had all these before the advent of the British colonialists who changed everything in favour of Christianity.

There is nothing the Muslims are demanding now that the Christians don’t have already on a platter of gold. It must also be stated that the Christians do not need the things that the Muslims are asking for. Why should somebody keep blocking his brother from getting his own share when he already has his own?

The fable of the dog in the manger is quite didactic in this regard. A British dog in the 13th century was fed with meat until its belly was full. Then the owner took hay (dry grass which only the horse needed and it is useless to the dog) and gave it to the horse. The dog had eaten and it was now the horse’s turn. Surprisingly, the dog started barking. It jumped on the hay and kept the horse at bay.

‘Dog in the manger’ has since become an English idiom. We must now ask CAN why it is playing dog in the manger. Shari‘ah is not for them but CAN screamed until the roofs nearly came down. OIC does not hurt any Christian but CAN shouted to high heavens. Hijab is for female Muslims alone but violent envy pushed CAN to shout itself hoarse. Islamic bank is for Muslims alone but CAN labeled it Islamisation of Nigeria. Can CAN give us a list of those who have been Islamised since Islamic banking started in the country? CAN leadership has become a professional false alarmist, a dog in the manger.

To reject the existence of sukuk pari passu with Islamic banking is like demanding that the agricultural sector should operate without bringing harvests to the markets or that hospitals should exist without pharmacies and laboratories. Having fought rigorously and bitterly against the establishment of the Islamic bank in Nigeria without success, our Christian neighbours seek to strangulate Islamic banks in the country.

We are constrained to ask, “How Christian is the Christian Association of Nigeria?” Every good Christian wants to be like Jesus and he turns this idea of emulating Jesus to a song. We have no doubt that CAN leaders also sing the song. But how sincere are they about emulating Jesus? Jesus says, “Love your neighbour according to thy self” (Mark 12:31) but CAN leaders do the exact opposite.

There are lots of good Christians in Nigeria and we interact very well but why must the petty ones always lead them? They are a belligerent lot, warlike and aggressive. Have they ever seen Muslims opposing a benefit going to Christians? We did not protest when you started going to Jerusalem even though we know that it is not mandatory for Christians. You enjoy Western banking system, Western education, common law, etc without any protest from us. Why is it that CAN always cries foul each time we seek parity?

CAN’s claim that sukuk is unconstitutional is false, baseless and misleading. How can laws made by the Federal Government be ultra vires? CAN is misleading Nigerian Christians. CAN should know what to do if it is unconstitutional. We challenge CAN to go to court today. It should not wait till tomorrow.

This was how CAN deceived Nigerians in 1999 when it said Shariah was unconstitutional and MURIC challenged it to go to court. They went to court of course but they beat a quick retreat. They withdrew the case when they found out the truth. But why heat up the polity all the time when you have the means of finding out the true status of sukuk? CAN likes making noise and we are enjoying our garrulous neighbour.

CAN calls sukuk a sectional religious financial policy but it forgets that the stock exchange has hitherto been monopolized by Christian-oriented bonds for decades and the Muslims did not complain for once. CAN loves to permanently marginalize Nigerian Muslims yet it is CAN that shouts ‘Islamisation’.

If it is true that sukuk implies Islamisation, then the stock exchange is imperialistic Christianisation. But almost the whole of Europe has embraced the sukuk industry. This includes France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Luxemburg and Britain. Paris EUROPLACE established sukuk as far back as 2007 and France has since established the Islamic Finance Commission. Germany issued its first sukuk in 2004. That was 13 years ago. Ireland’s sukuk assets amounted to 180 trillion euros by 2010. Luxemburg started using sukuk in 2002. Britain has been using Islamic banking since the 1990s and the Sanctuary Building Sukuk was launched in 2005. The United States Office of the Comptroller of the Currency recognized the ijarah and mubarahah more than 30 years ago! But has America been Islamised? According to Bloomberg LP, KFH Research, the global sukuk issuance as at 31st December 2013 was $135 billion but grew rapidly to $2.004 trillion by 2016.

These are verifiable facts if CAN would eschew its armchair leadership style. Even Google alone is enough but CAN leadership will not search. They are just interested in rabble-rousing and cantankerous razz-mataz. CAN should seek education. The Bible says “My people perish for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). CAN should stop misleading Nigerians and inciting Christians against their Muslim neighbours.

MURIC calls on Nigerian Christians to either ignore CAN or find out the truth by themselves each time CAN cries wolf. Afterall the Bible asks Christians to “Investigate everything but hold onto that which is the truth” (I Thessalonians 5:21). Don’t allow anybody to push you into violent behavior. Don’t allow anyone to make you hate your Muslim neighbour.

Let us eschew primordial sentiments. Sukuk is purely business. We advise Christians to take their destiny in their own hands instead of allowing warlike leaders to lead them into unnecessary confrontation with Muslims every time. We invite CAN leaders to eschew bitterness. We should be partners in lending the voice of reason to the national debate instead of constituting clerical nuisance to the Nigerian nation.

Before we round up, we advise CAN leadership to desist from giving religion a bad name. The word ‘religion’ is from the Latin word ‘religio’ meaning ‘to link’, ‘to tie’ or ‘to bind’. Therefore religion is about linking people together in love and sharing. It is not about dividing them. Religion is about love, forgiveness, tolerance, giving and taking. Let us be good examples for the young generation. Our constant bickering has led to too many religious crises. It has pushed our followers to the precipice of war and instigated them against one another. Why must we live together like two envious wives of the same husband when we should see ourselves as two sons of the same father? This is the etymological essence of religion.

The Farmer/herder crisis is a SECURITY Problem, not a religious or tribal one. Do criminal Fulani herdsmen ask the religion of their victim before killing or maiming them? Let me even shock you and tell you that most Fulani are animist, not Muslims!

ATTENTION, CAN. LET’S ISLAMIZE IT

In the late 1980s, you claimed that a TV news reader on NTA, Hauwa Baba Ahmed's covering of her head and chest 'was an attempt' by the Federal Government to 'Islamize Nigeria'. It’s about 30 years now and many broadcasters have appeared with head coverings and Nigeria is yet to be Islamized.

Still at that period, you again vehemently opposed the idea that public schools should close at 1 p.m on Fridays to allow Muslims observe Jumat service. You claimed it was an agenda to Islamize the country. We have been closing at 1 p.m. since then and observing our Jummat, but have not Islamized the country.

Also when Nigeria became a member of OIC in 1986, to galvanize her base with foreign security agencies with fighting terrorism on common grounds. You alleged again that it was another Islamization agenda.

When the CBN was preparing to license Islamic Banking few years ago, which is Islam’s way of contributing to the development of the fiinancial sector of the nation. That, according to you, was also Islamization.

The issue about teaching of CRK and IRK separately in public schools gave you another opportunity to raise your addictive false alarm of Islamization.

When Presidents are seen in Islamic Robes, in front row of prayer sessions in the mosques and other religious places or with notable religious scholars around the globe, you raise eye brow that the country is being portrayed as an Islamic State.

Then your retired generals including, Theophilus Danjuma, Joshua Dogonyaro and Zamani Lekwot and elders like; Elder Solomon Asemota, Elder Moses Ihonde, Elder Shyngle Wigwe and Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife went to meet the president to make false a bellyache of Islamization of the country.

But you forget that,

All courses from primary to university are being taught in English, the language in which Nigerian Christians are reading their Bible. Yet Nigerian Muslims never cry of Christianization.

Muslims must go to work on Fridays but Saturdays and Sundays are declared weekends for Christians to go churches. That’s not Christianization enough.

Of 16 years of PDP rule: 14 years were for southern Christians and only 2 years were for Muslims. Yet there was no brawl of Christianization.

Occasionally in his time as President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan used to attend public functions in the company of the then CAN President Oritsejafor. Goodluck Jonathan used to announce government approval of public projects during church service. Yet no Muslims cried of Christianization.

For years Christianity was the only religious knowledge taught in public schools, while the Muslims were denied the opportunity to learn their religion and its language. It didn’t look like Christianization.

Our assembly morning prayer sessions in school was compulsorily in Christian Lord's prayers for all students irrespective of faiths. Where we had to close our eyes and recite the Lord’s prayer and sing Christmas Carol. Many of us can still sing these songs without problem. This still did not translate to Christianization.

Do you still remember you went round public schools distributing Bibles? There was hardly any student who owned not one. The similitude was done in public hospitals placing Bibles at the heads of patients all in the name of praying for them. This was not Christianization.

The removal of Arabic Ajami text from the Naira notes during Jonathan’s regime did not also mean satisfying your religious bigotry, forgetting that the Hausa-Fulani was long Arabic speaking before Nigeria got her independence. Moreover, English is also a Westo-Christian Language. No one is addressing the Cross Symbol of health used in hospitals.

When the CAN President Ayo Orisejafor was involved in a scandalous S9.3 million arms deal in 2014 in South Africa with two Nigerians and an Isreali, no one saw it as Christianization. What would have been the aftermath if the Sultan owned the jet that freighted the arms money that was confiscated by South African Customs? But the owner was the then CAN President Ayo Oritsejafor, and that was never Christianization.

So, why have CAN leaders been crying wolf where there is none? Is it to blindfold us of the ongoing Christianization in the country?

Or is it the only way CAN leadership in the country can galvanize their base in an attempt to remain relevant?

Is it a plan to frustrate the unity, peace and progress in the country or a plan to take us back in to the mud, or to cause dissonance in our consonance?

Why are CAN leaders invariably becoming alarmists, schizophrenics and self-delusional?

So I say,
If appearing in modest attires free of immorality and debauchery on TV is what you call Islamization, then let’s Islamize it.

If Prof Oloyede is blocking all loopholes of corruption in JAMB sector and remitting N5b from Jamb to the coffers of the Federal Government is what you call Islamization, then, let’s Islamize it.

If Dr Amina Muhammed who has strong background in global affairs, development, diplomacy, human rights and humanitarian action, making her the 5th deputy secretary-general of UN is also Islamization, then let’s Islamize it.

If Professor Attahiru Jega’s display of maturity and political sagacity to Godsday Orubebe’s outburst and disruption of 2015 election process is what you call Islamization, then, let’s Islamize it

If having PMB, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Justice Ayo Salami and world Judge; Justice Bola Ajibola, as qualitative and not quantitative Nigerians is what threatens you of Islamization, then let’s Islamize it.

After all, if you claim to be educated then education needs another definition.
