You may or may not know how your Android device stores passwords for previously connected WiFi networks, but it's pretty simple and basic. With this sguide, you can view any WiFi password you previously saved right on your Android device with ES file explorer with no external application needed.

This is a very simple guide, and all you will need are:

ES file explorer (of course)
Root access on your device
And probably patience.

PROCEDURES:

First, you need to download ES file explorer from the Google Play store, if you already have it installed then skip this step.

Then navigate to data/misc/wifi folder located in you device's system directory. If you cannot locate this follow the screenshot process below.

Open ES file explorer app in your app drawer

Then swipe right from the edge of the screen

Scroll down to where you see "Root Explorer" then enable it. You will be prompted to grant super user access.

Then press the back key on your device to get back to ES file explorer Home screen.

Swipe left from the edge of the screen to see all folders on your device

Tap on the "/" icon located at the top menu of ES file explorer

Then locate "data" folder and tap on it.

Scroll down to locate the "misc" folder and tap on it.

In the misc folder, at the bottom there is a folder named "wifi" tap on it.

And in the folder there is a file named "wpa_supplicant.conf" . That's the needed file for this tutorial.

After locating the file, tap on it and open with the inbuilt text editor in ES file explorer.

Now you can see and note down the network name and its password. With this, you will be able to view all saved WiFi password on your Android device.

NOTE:
Do not edit anything you find in that folder. It may lead to unforeseen circumstances on your Android device!!!

This Is only achievable if the phone is rooted

This is a very big security risk. Why is the password not harshed or at least encrypted?

I don't think so... It has always been that way... Your saved WiFi password needs to be stored somewhere..same with Windows PC

Same thing with pc.
I actually look up saved passwords of people spectranet if given the chance and copy down the password with CMD.
That's the beauty of knowing stuff.
The best part of it all they don't have a clue.

Am also studying Kali Linux and it's the best...if you have a clue of what am talking about.

This is too stressful! They should be some easier way that does not require root.

Xiaomi phones have a workaround without root. But you must be connected to the wifi to try this. It might just work for other andriod OEMs.

1. Open settings →wifi →(then click TAP TO SHARE PASSWORD ).

2. A pop up will appear with some weird figures (barcode).
š
3. You just have to take a screenshot of that barcode.

4. Go to tools in home and open scanner.
š
5. After opening scanner. Select QR scanner. It will open ur camera with a box. you just have to click on top where gallery option is located.
š
6. Select that screenshot of barcode .

7. Finally you just have to click on password to view the password.
