Do you know that the word of God can be tasted (Hebrews 6:5)? The word of God has taste and can be tasted with the senses (Psalm 119:103). Unless your spiritual senses is in good function, you may find it difficult accepting the undiluted truth of God's word because you will figuratively find it “bitter”.

Finding the truth of God's word bitter will make you find it extremely difficult to accept the truth as you will prefer fables instead of the undiluted truth of God's word (2 Timothy 4:4; 1 Timothy 1:4). This will make you be moved and tossed to and fro by any doctrine without the good sense of differentiating the truth from the false (Ephesians 4:14).

The word of God is compared to food in the scripture and truly, the word of God is a kind of food of its own (Job 23:12). Jesus Christ, during the temptation by the devil, said that man does not live by bread alone but by the word of God also (Luke 4:4). The bread we eat is for the body while the word of God is spirit and life and for our internal being— the soul (John 6:63).

We need the word just as we need our material food because just the same way our body can be staved and malnourished, so also our spirit being and soul can be starved and malnourished also and when this happen we are exposed to diverse temptations (Matthew 26:41), lust of the flesh and lust of the eyes (1 John 2:16; Matthew 5:28).

This explains the increase in immorality in the society (2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2) because of the negligence and nonchalant attitude towards God's word but the good news is, Jesus is the cure (Romans 5:8-9).

To have your senses in function again takes practice of God's word. First, accept Jesus into your life and pray to God to get understanding which only Him give liberally to all who ask from Him (James 1:5) and the Spirit of truth — the Holy Spirit (John 14:17) will lead you to all truth of God's word (John 16:13).

Like they say “practice makes perfect”. Constant practice of God's word will develop you spiritual senses of taste of God's word. Study the scripture daily (Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 2:15), even if it's just three chapters a day but be consistent.

Be on alert (1 Peter 5:8 ), because Satan who doesn’t want you to know the truth, knows how to manipulate the hearts of men (Matthew 16:22-23) to persecute you through them and they will say all manner of things against you for your loyalty to the word of God but happy are you when you face such as Jesus said in the scripture (Matthew 5:11) and it shouldn’t bother you because it's written : “all who live godly in Christ will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12).
