Okay, even though I know this isn't a new fad, I just realized recently that roughly 4 out of every 5 Naija girls of this generation use the word "actually" over and over in their sentences. The stats may be wrong but everyone would agree with me, that upon close observation, they tend to use this "big word" to make them sound posh and classy. The word 'actually', when pronounced quite fast and stylishly, has a way of making the speaker sound like they're speaking "phoneh", meanwhile they may not be able to spell jack when it comes to writing, hence they're so good at abbreviating txts.
