As Nigeria bask in the glory of being the first African team to qualify for Russia 2018 it is time to give the boys who saw us through a pat on the back for a job well done but also take stock on how the team could improve on what they have done so far.

All soccer pundits are unanimously in agreement that the strike force is an area that Nigeria can do better. Victor Moses keeps working hard and creating chances but we keep missing our chances. Against better opposition at the world cup we will be made to pay for any chances we miss. Odion Ighalo is also doing his best. Every footballer has an off day but it is important to have a rich bench  you can count on to come in and give the opponent new kinds of problem.

This is where I think Imoh Fred Friday will give a new dimension to the current super eagles team. As a big strong center forward who can score fantastic goals with either left or right foot, good in the air, strong enough to bully defenders and create a goal out of nothing but also has the intelligence and skill to bring others into play; Nigeria at this moment just have to give this guy a try to fight for at least the subs bench if not lead the line.

Born in Port Harcourt Nigeria, Imoh Fred Friday currently plays in Netherlands Eredivisie for AZ Alkmaar. Friday started his career in the Nigerian league playing for clubs like Gabros and Unicem Rovers before leaving the shores of Nigeria in 2013 to play for Lillestrom in Norway. Friday struggled a bit to get going in Norway but soared in the 2015/6 season where he scored 17 goals in 29 games. He followed that up with 8 in 12 games before AZ Alkmaar went in for him and brought him to the Netherlands. Fred Friday is currently averaging an overall goal ratio of 1goal in 3 games and that’s not a bad statistics for a striker learning his trade.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will do well to take a look at Imoh Fred Friday. As a big powerful striker he reminds me a lot of Emenike and may just be the threat up front that super eagles need. See below video for some of his goals.

Nice.
The guy is strong, has a powerful shot on him and has poacher instincts. Looks like a more complete version of iheanacho who is still young.
Call him up.
