shocked

The publicity strategy of many churches today is comprehensively inspired by demons!

A man once said ' I left the world for the church but when i got to the church, I found the world inside the church waiting for me'

Too bad!

A church where God is truly present does not need to engage unscriptural tactics to woo the public into attending their programmes.

They think the faces of these so called celebrities does the work better than the Holy Spirit. It is such a shame!

Going to church does not make anyone a christian. The primary reason why we gather at church is for spiritual edification and not for some pack of jokes and celebrity face-showing!

Many of those celebrities are not christians, they represently everything called ungodliness and in whom the spirit of devils operate.

No wonder many church altars and congregations have been polluted with strange spirits.

It is the grace of God present in a church that makes the difference and not the face of some yeyebrities.

Having said that, CAN should not have mentioned some selected churches and names as almost all the churches in Nigeria regardless of denominations are guilty of this in one way or the other if we are to be strict about the subject matter.

No all church programmes are being inspired by the Holy Spirit. By their fruits you shall know them.

We must all be careful of where we place our heads because where you place your head determines what comes upon it.

This is the End time!

The fact that some 'Christians' don't see any problem with the churches is quite alarming

Let's ask Christian sects how to define Actual Christianity:

Methodist: It is accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior and publicly sharing that acceptance by getting baptized through sprinkling of water.

Baptist: No, no, no -- you must be DUNKED in water, heathen.

Pentecostal: Yer both wrong -- ye must be baptized by the Holy Spirit and ye must speak in tongues to prove you are saved.

Lutherans: You don't need to do any of that. Our founder said just believe and have faith (oh yeah and he REALLY hated Jews).

Presbyterian: How droll -- lol. No no..you see it does not matter what you do or do not, God has already decided who the true Christians will be and they are obviously all Presbyterians.

Episcopalians: Well, we each get to decide what constitutes Christianity. What is in your heart? What do you think it is for you? What say you, Bishop Spong?

Church of Christ: None of you are going to heaven because you use musical instruments in your services and God hates that.

Jehovah's Witness: Something Something Kingdom Hall; something something no birthdays, several End Times falsely predicted, no blood transfusions,,,,

Seventh Day Adventist: Pah! None of you even have the right day.

United Church of Christ: It's all good; let's listen to an acoustic guitar solo and accept gay people.

Non-denominational: Gay people? ewww. No no, ye must build megachurches with gyms and cafes to be righteous to god.

Catholic: Ummm....oldest sect here, guys. Forget that "accepting Jesus" stuff. You must mediate with God via a priest and eat crackers to get saved (just do not leave your kids alone with said priests, OK?). Oh yeah..and Virgin Mary is way cool.

Church of England: Yeah, what the Catholic said...but divorce is 100% OK.
Unitarian Universalists: Why are you guys even trying to define Christianity? All beliefs are the same (whoops.we aint even Christians).

CAN criticises churches for inviting Nollywood celebrities, musicians and comedians to boost attendance

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has criticised the attitude of some churches, especially in Abuja, in inviting secular celebrities and entertainment stars to boost attendance at their programmes.

The General Secretary of CAN, Musa Asake, condemned the new trend saying it would only distract people from the teachings of Christ.
He said rather than the ‘‘church learning from the world, the church should be imparting the world.’’ The trend
It is now common for some churches to publicise upcoming programmes and services by printing massive bill-boards and circulating posters, bills, fliers to announce the attendance of actors, musicians and other celebrities at such events.

At times, local and international gospel acts are invited alongside these entertainment icons to boost attendance.

Early last year, two churches, Action Faith Int’l and Prevailing Power Assembly in Abuja invited Nollywood star, Patience Ozokwor and Osita Iheme (Paw Paw) respectively to some of their events.

Also, last year, House on the Rock Church invited Akpopororo, a comedian, to its annual programme, ”The Experience”, also to perform.
And most recently, Firehouse Church, Nyanya invited entertainment stars, Ini Edo, Desmond Elliot and Osita Iheme in August and actress cum comedian, Funke Akindele (popularly known as Jenifa) in September.

Do not bring Jehovah's Witnesses into this nonsense. When have you ever heard that Jehovah's Witnesses invited comedians or politicians or musicians or 'actors' to their Kingdom Halls to teach or give a discuss?

Jehovah's Witnesses believes that a christian should and must follow the Bible's teachings both publicly and privately, and Bible principles must guide their actions and conducts. Yes, there are news of some 'celebrities' associating with Jehovah's Witnesses. But those were preached to, and they like what they learned from the Bible and took steps to associate with the Witnesses.

Jehovah's Witnesses uses direct one on one discussions to study and teach people about God and Christ. If you like what you learn, you take steps to conform your life to Bible standards. They try not to do anything that would bring disrespect to their God Jehovah.

I see nothing inviting "celebrities" to Church Service/Mass after all there are Christians before becoming celebrities. My worry is putting up Billboards, Flyers etc. At the end Salvation is what you do...you and your maker

Things like these can't happen in a church that preaches the whole truth of the Bible, instead of them coming to church voluntarily, the church is now inviting them, nawa o.

I don't know why a "Pastor" will call a Comedian to Church in order to make people "laugh and Happy". you call a comedian to crack jokes, to say things that are not true... the word of God is complete and the Word is against "Jesting"... but I'm not surprised, when most of the churches has forgotten about modesty and orderliness in the house of God. if you truly have Christ in you, you will have the fullness of Joy... Most so called Men of God has forgotten that they can't help God.
My advice to you all is to read the Bible...when I mean the Bible, not the one some people has revised the whole initial word to replace with what they teach.

They should go and sit down Abeg. What's wrong with that?

Your spiritual senses are DEAD. You just go to church without having the slightest understanding of what you are doing.

A comedian performing in church? Performing what exactly? What should a church be? A place that lifts you heart and mind to God, or a place that links your heart and mind to the world?

Are you saying the akpororo you watch online and in parties and other places is not enough?

Very soon, you will be dancing One Corner in church. Empty dead Christian
