TEXT:"THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;"-1 John 1:1.

The Word of life is the Word of God. In John 1:1, 14, this Word was in the beginning, and this Word was with God, and this Word was God. And this Word was made flesh, and dwelt among human beings, and they beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. This Word of God is Jesus Christ.

God is the divine author of the books of the Bible. There are human authors also. The Bible, the word of God is divided into two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. It is further divided into five, called the five edged sword, and they are: the law; and the prophets in the Old Testament. And in the New Testament: the gospels; the epistles; and the revelation.

The law has five books: Genesis; Exodus; Leviticus; Numbers; and Deuteronomy. And these books were written by Moses, Exodus 24:4; Numbers 33:2; Deuteronomy 31:9. The prophets have thirty four books, written by the prophets, Isaiah 8:1; Jeremiah 36:1, 2; Daniel 7:1; etc.

In the New Testament, the gospels have four books, and the Acts of the apostles. The book of Acts of the apostles is an extension of the gospels. While the books of the gospels are about Jesus Christ and his disciples, the book of Acts of the apostles is about the disciples of Jesus Christ.

The epistles have twenty one books, written by the disciples of Jesus Christ. And the last book of the Word of God is the book of Revelation.

Moses talked with God face to face, because the books of the law were still in the making. When the books were completed, God did not speak face to face again with anyone. He began speaking through his written word.

While the books of the prophets were in the making, the prophets lived in the dispensation of the law, and were guided by the books of the law. The books of the prophets were finally completed during the time of prophets Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. The books of the law and the prophets are known as the two edged sword, Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 1:16.

Furthermore, Jesus Christ and his disciples lived in the dispensation of the law and the prophets. The books of the law and the prophets(the two edged sword) guided them, Luke 24:27. After Jesus ascended, the disciples continued to live in the dispensation of the law and the prophets till their departure from the earth.

Moreover, while the books of the gospels, the books of the epistles, and the book of revelation, were all in the making, the disciples of Jesus Christ lived in the dispensation of the law and the prophets. And where guided by the books of the law and the prophets. That is the reason they could only know in part, and not see clearly, only seeing through a glass darkly, 1 Corinthians 13:9-12.

However, the remaining three edges of the sword of the Spirit, Ephesians 6:17, which are: the books of the gospels; the books of the epistles; and the book of revelation were concluded during the last day of the apostle John, the last apostle to depart the earth.

Today, Christians are living in the dispensation of the five edged sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, which are: the law; the prophets; the gospels; the epistles; and the revelation. Praise God! Christians can now know in full, and also see clearly, unlike in the time of the disciples and their contemporaries. Unfortunately, and sadly though, some believers are yet to avail themselves of this wonderful privilege.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Pastor K. C.
