Education is a compulsion to strive for betterment. Although, some may have achieved greatness without it. But a huge chunk of humanity living on this planet need education to get past the barriers holding them to achieve their dreams. But the problem that is increasing rapidly day by day is the education gap between the rich and the poor. The struggle of poor students to meet the standards of passing their subjects is more significant than the syllabus they need to study. Because it all comes down to fees of the institutions and the additional sources for learning like the home tuition, expensive books and other courses.

All of these extravagant but efficient sources are vital for students to achieve higher grades in the class. But a poor student who hardly affords a new uniform every year, cannot take benefit from them and thus scores passing marks only.
On the other hand, the wealthy students have everything they need to be in top 10s. And by taking help from the other sources mentioned above, they also remain prominent in the class. Which boosts their confidence and makes them the center of the class.

Just like the gap of wealth between rich and poor is increasing, making the rich richer and the poor poorer, the educational gap is also growing. It is providing an escalator to the students with a wealthy background. Meanwhile grabbing and sticking its claws in the throats of the underprivileged students.

The effect of this unjust gap is having a huge impact on both the wealthy students and the poor students. The affluent students are getting all the benefits and perks of studying in expensive institutes. They do not have to worry about the fees of next semester. Which relaxes them and let them focus on their studies appropriately. Making the poor student a victim of depression and low self-esteem. Which is substantially impacting on their overall progress in the classroom and personal life.

The affluent students have the availability of all the sources necessary to achieve a higher result. And that is making them more motivated and enthused day by day. While due to low resources, the poor students hardly manage to get past the class. Besides proper education, the deprivation of other necessary things like proper uniform or dress, old used books are making the poor students a victim of inferiority complex. Which is demotivating them and acting like a slow poison, sluggishly killing their spirit to struggle.

The problem with this gap is not due to the ability to afford expensive institutions which also offer a quality education. The issue is with the educational system which perceives students as tools for increasing their yearly revenue. The higher education system has become a mafia which provides the quality to those who can pay the higher fees of their overly priced institutions. Completely neglecting those who hardly manage to pay the expenses of medium level educational institutes. Which results in great minds getting deprived of the power of knowledge who would’ve done wonders otherwise.

To close this gap, some necessary actions should be taken to ensure the equality of education to all students irrespective of their backgrounds and ability to pay for extra sources of knowledge. Everything should be available to every student within the campus. And nothing should be charged for additional sources of knowledge. The tuition fees should be set according to the ability to pay for each student.
