Manchester United's performance at Liverpool last
weekend may have attracted much criticism in the media
but the defensive record this season really does deserve
closer scrutiny and praise.
Since the opening day, the Reds have almost completely
shut out our opponents. Yes, there was the 2-1 UEFA
Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid before then, but,
following the start of the Premier League, the stability at
the back has been nothing short of outstanding.
West Ham United, Swansea City, Leicester City, FC Basel,
Southampton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Benfica have
all failed to score against the Reds. Burton Albion found
a way past substitute keeper Joel Pereira and David De
Gea was beaten by CSKA Moscow's Konstantin Kuchayev
but both were injury-time consolations during comfortable
4-1 victories for United.
