Overview
The role of Solar Engineer is to assemble, install and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. Includes measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. May perform minor electrical work such as current checks.

Responsibilities

• Assess potential solar installation sites to determine feasibility and design requirements
• Plan and coordinate installations supervising workmen in compliance with safety standards
• Estimate materials, equipment, and personnel needed for residential or commercial solar installation projects.
• Identify means to reduce costs, minimize risks, or increase efficiency of solar installation projects
• Assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relative equipment
• Set up solar monitoring system
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on safety
• Assess system performance or functionality
• Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all queries regarding how the system works
and how to protect against overuse
• Trouble shoot and repair non functioning systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot any system malfunctions and operational issues

Requirements

• Must be a qualified Electrical Engineer
• 1+ years of previous solar installation experienced required
• Experience installing both roof and ground mount systems
• Should have grown public interest in environmental preservation and resource management
• Must be experienced in understand electrical systems and solar-powered equipment used to produce energy alternatives
• Must have full range or mobility in upper and lower body; ability to work in various positions & environments, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time Ability to lift, pull and push materials and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds on a frequent basis
