Chocolate is a range of food, derived from cocoa, mixed with fat. There are several types of chocolate, determined by the amount or proportion of cocoa used. You could have your chocolate plain, or mixed with milk, to give milk chocolate. There is also the white chocolate, which is made of butter, sugar, milk, cocoa, without the cocoa solids. Sometimes we discover that some chocolate gets bitter as you taste clearly, this type is the unsweetened chocolate, also known as bitter baking chocolate, or cooking chocolate. Which is simply pure chocolate liquor mixed with some form of fat to produce a solid substance. Most times it is used as a base for cakes, brownies, confections and cookies.

Flavours such as mint, vanilla, coffee, orange, or strawberry are sometimes added to chocolate in a creamy form or in a small but significant quantity. The varying types could be prepared easily at home, without visiting the store. Here we would consider the making of honey sweetened dark chocolate.

Below is a quick guide on how you can make your honey sweetened dark chocolate at home with just few healthy ingredients, and get the yummy taste you desire.

Honey sweetened dark chocolate with nuts:


Ingredients:

• ½ cup of cocoa powder.

• ¼ cup of cocoa butter and/or coconut oil, at room temperature (not melted)

• ¼ cup organic honey

• A pinch of salt

• Nuts such as peanuts or almonds (optional)



Instruments

• A double boiler pot or two pots (One big pot and a smaller pot that can be placed in the bigger pot)

• A sturdy spatula

• A silicon mould



Process

Step 1. Pick the smaller pot, wash properly to ensure good hygiene, then dry completely. After which you can add the cocoa butter in it gently, to avoid spilling.

Step 2. Fill the bigger pot with a little water and bring to boil. Next you place the small pot inside the big pot filled with steamed water to melt the cocoa butter.

Step 3. Add the cocoa powder, coconut oil (optional), and then add the honey. With your study spatula, mix the ingredients thoroughly, making sure that you that the oil and honey is properly blended into the powder. To get a smooth surface, continue to mix thoroughly.

Step 3. Get the silicone mould ready to use ( it must be completely dry or your chocolate may not set).

Step 4. Pour the mixed chocolate into the mould, then sprinkle with salt.

Step 5. Add your nuts such as peanuts, Almonds, raisins etc.

Step 6: Leave the mixture to cool at room temperature

Step 7. Put in the freezer, for as long as it gets hardened. At least one hour is needed for proper solidification

Step 8. Check freezer to see if hardened

Step 9. Store in the freezer again, until ready to serve
