Had this experience in my 1999 4runner. Confirm your car is in park (Might have to force the gear lever since you can't get it in ignition). That's how I solved mine  It reoccurred two more times and I did same but has never repeated again. Your gear lever might be in P position but Park hasn't actually been engaged. Disclaimer: It worked for me, might not work for you. |
