The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), oth­erwise known as Shia, on Sunday accused the Ni­geria Police of killing two of their members while on their annual trek from Kano to Zaria.
The Police Public Re­lations Officer in charge of Kano Command, DSP Musa Magaji Majia, however, told journalists on telephone that police did not kill IMN mem­bers.

According to him, the Shia members, during a meeting with the police were advised not to engage in the proces­sion due to prevailing securi­ty situation.
Majia added that the Com­mand only drafted a team of police men who peacefully dispersed the Shia members.


Trouble started when thousands of IMN members started the trek from Kofar Mazugal inside Kano metrop­olis in the morning around 10:00am, prayed afternoon prayers at Kofar Nasarawa and terminated the day’s trek at the popular Lado overhead bridge.
