Twitter has eventually rolled out 280 characters and everybody isn’t happy. Some people are mad at this decision to the extent that they call it Facebooklisation of Twitter. If you are one of these people that feel tweets should remain 140 characters and hate the 280, this post is for you. Here are three extensions (add-ons) you can use to block 280 Twitter characters, and never see them again.

Extensions that Block 280 Twitter Characters

1. 140 Characters Only: This is a Chrome extension that blocks 280 Twitter characters, and it is one of the fantastic ones that do the blocking efficiently. After you might have downloaded and installed the extension, all tweets that are more than 140 characters – be it real tweets or embedded tweets – would be cut off from your stream.



2. Block280: Aside from using 140 Characters Only extension in Chrome, you can as well use Block280. The extension is slightly advanced than the former. It collapses any tweet in your stream that is more than 140 characters, showing only the handle of the poster and the people mentioned in the tweet. Even the embedded link and images attached to the tweet aren’t spared – Block280 will truncate all. This extension takes it to the extreme, so it is perfect for you if you are extremely annoyed about the 280 Twitter characters.

3. Tweets Truncator: This extension is for Firefox and works like Chrome’s 140 Characters Only extension.

Those are the three solid extensions you can use to block the long 280 Twitter characters, and take yourself back to the Twitter of 140 characters. For now, Opera browsers and Twitter for Android and iOS don’t have any 280-character blockers.
